I'm bummed. Just got a wedding notice for family for this weekend. Was really looking forward to it, but you know how family is. We will see what happens between now and then but looks like I might be a no go this year. Really bummed.
Well that's a bummer Scott , also found out that weekend is the James Dean run , I've rode to Fairmount and Marion , on the way to Elkhart , to pick a camper up for the bike , and took a pitcher or three , but never even knew there was a James Dean run , might be interesting ..
We will be leaving Friday morning ( 17th ) and returning Sunday morning .. Been kinda unorganized on Saturday for rides .. Had a few mapped out but didn't ride them .. I got between one and four going .. Wifey's hip has really been bothering her , don't know what lies ahead there , right now she's not up to much of anything ,. let alone a 400 mile ride ..
I am connected with someone , who , if it werks out , will make available a 'collectible one of a kind memento' for the ride ..
The wife and I are in for sure. Working on some non enlightened batwing and metric riders to tag along. They're still good people, just not as smart as the rest of us.
Talked to Bill on the phone last night, he didn't seem to know about this, told him to get with you for details.
I worry about him , I told him last week and about a half dozen other times as well . Our friend who used to run the Harley dealership here passed last week and Bill called three times in two days to ask the funeral arrangements ..
He did tell me he has about talked himself out of the GB trip in August , and he was gonna call you about an extended trip , to see if you wanted to go along , he doesn't realize peeps have to work and have other commitments that keep them from going somewhere at the drop of a hat ..
I was sure you had, and I thought I remembered talking to him about it last time we spoke. Sad to hear. Did he get a road glide? I hope he does make it up this way, hell of a nice guy.
Nother batwing , he used to have Tour Glides , then in the early '00's when he couldn't get a RG ultra , he got a bat and has never gotten another RG since then .. He had a 12 ultra and traded on a low mileage 12 ultra , it won't be low mileage for long ..
He'll prolly be there for Patti's , and hopefully , a new kid here , Rider22 , a friends 21 year old son got a 15 RGS a few months ago and he has tucked himself under my wing .. His ma ( gonna get her on the back a mine one day ) said he has adopted me .. He's all cranked up about it and should be able to get off , be his first trip of any substance ..
Well, I gotta spend another couple hours cleaning my damn bike again. 2% chance of rain. Rode a couple hours to go see my mom and try to cheer her up, my Uncle passed last weekend and they were really close. Anyway, about a mile or two north of her town I get dumped on. I mean dumped. Waves of water blowing across the road, no shoulder to pull over on, even if there was I was worried about being seen it was coming down so hard. Flashers on, about 15 MPH, lasts for 5 minutes, felt like an eternity, I was questioning if I was doing the right thing or should just stop because the wind was blowing hard. Then, sunshine!!!! An hour and 45 minute later I'm home, dry everywhere except my groin and ass. Looks like this year I am a rain magnet!!!
Can't wait for next weekend, hope my weather mojo doesn't get us all soaked!!!!
