50,000 mile oil change

I've been running Valvoline 20w50 Dino since new, was thinking about changing over to Mobil 1 synthetic, is this a good or bad idea?

Doesn't sound like it's broke,,, Why do you want to change??

I buy M1 from Pep Boys when they run a 30% (sometimes 35%) off sale.

Got to concur with heat wave. I started with Syntech but the valve train was too noisy. Switched to Mobile 1 with a little appreciable difference in clatter. Have switched tried castrol and valvoline and the dino oil seems to quiet the valves much better than the synthetics. Why are you considering changing? I have 55k on mine too,

For the extra protection, synthetic doesn't brake down as easy as Dino

These engines seem to be about as different as our personalities. What works for one or some doesn't work the same for some others. I am a firm believer in full synthetics and Mobil1 in particular. Unless/until you make the switch you will not know what difference there will be. If for some reason you felt there was an adverse change, you can always switch back.

With 50K miles running on Dino, and apparently with no problems, I wouldn't change.

I run either Valvoline VR1 FS Racing 20-50 or Redline 20-60 FS , both quieten mine down a good bit .. Cant go wrong with Mobil 1 FS which I have used also .. Changing from dino to FS will not hurt anything and FS protects much better , that said my riding pardner who passed away last year always ran dino and put more miles on his bikes than most in a very short period of time , with few issues ..

You like blondes or brunettes ?? redheads ??

Leg Man , Breast Man or Butt Man ??

Get the drift ??

Don't matter much , just personal preference

Interesting question; I have always used Mobil 1 syn and at 10K went to Valvoline 20w50 Dino to give it a try. The reason I am trying this is that damn ticking noise I am getting. I think with the Shark nose it kind of holds the sound in and I hear it more than on my old twin cam 88. Anyway after 1,000 miles no difference that I can tell I also put in some Lucas Oil Motorcycle additive that they say helps reduce noise. I also used Lucas with Mobil 1 and did not seem to help.

I may try Castrol syn next change I don't know yet but I think I will have to live with noise. If Castrol does not help I am sure I will go back to Mobil 1.

Any yes I buy at Pep Boys online and get 30-35% off.

Just my opinion. Lucas tells the customer how great their oil is, if it is that good, why do you need an additive? I use the "Green Oil" and change it around every 3,000 miles.
