I hate using this as it is, but now, it won't even allow me to get my maps to do a much needed pre-ride. As it doesn't recognize my being signed in from previous pages, when I click on "Sign In", nothing happens. I can see the ride on my phone's Ride Planner app, but can't get that to the stupid in-dash GPS.
Problem solved. Reboot didn't work, but logging out of everything Harley and logging back in did work. No to work on other issues like the route being broken up into 8 routes when loaded onto the bike. Did I mention how much I miss my Garmin and hate the Harley nav?
Ride planner is a love/hate relationship. Mostly hate. I like planing routes and including dealerships or gas stations as way points but a complicated trip is almost unmanageable. There are so many individual files that it's hard to remember which one you are on and which is next. I've lost many routes in ride planner after being mysteriously logged out and then unable to save the trip. I keep thinking if I keep using it, it will get better but you know what they say about trying the same thing over and over and expecting different results...
I use the app inRoute on my iPhone and iPad. You can't download into bike but can save routes and has a motorcycle setting to fine the curvy route. Been using it to plan our trip to Nashville this summer. I just plan on entering some key points in my places on the bike so I can access them on the trip.
I tried Ride Planner and uploading the bike without much luck in my last bike and gave up.
Did Harley update this ride planner? Tried it for the first time tonight, took me 3 hrs to finally put together a ride, very frustrating...... Anyway got it done but don't see how to download it to my laptop, so I can put it on a usb to download onto the bike.
Watched 2 YouTube videos just now and what they show is not what Iam seeing here..............just smh:frown:
Open up your route in the H-D Ride Planner, then select Customize from the info box. When the new box pops-up on the left side of the screen it defaults to displaying the Locations. Select Directions and at the bottom right corner of the box, you will see the ability to download (Download GPX). Screenshots attached to show examples.
I've not had any trouble with HD ride planner. Enter start location, enter end location. plots it out, turn it into GPX file download from pc, load to bike. It's working for me.
Taking a ride to Pensacola this weekend, and I'll be trying it for the first time.
