Klockwerks GARBAGE

My windshield got broken while at the Iron Horse this past bike week. The next day, I went to the Klockwerks trailer at Destination Daytona and the salesman said the Klockwerks windshield of the same height as the Windvest I had on would give me better wind protection, let me hear my stereo better and give better handling. I was dumb enough to believe him. What a mistake. I can't hear the stereo at over 50 MPH, I have been getting hit with bugs and can't wear my favorite glasses because the wind blows them off my face. To make matters worse, when I get off the bike, my ears are ringing from the wind noise. I wish I never wasted my money.

Hi Kudu; it would be more helpful if you said soemthing about what type of shark, your height (inseam) etc. And what type of
If you think WindVest works better for you, fine; but to claim that Klock Werks is «garbage» sounds to me like ranting, no offence intended.
I had a Wind Vest 14" on my SERG but I got a 12" flare instead. The Wind Vest was fine but I chose the Klock Werks Flare because of the improved handling at high speed with added down-force. I have no problem hearing my stereo at 80 mph (and it's not a impressive set up, just 2x7-14" J&Ms with no amp.) Also the Wind Vest is made of acrylic like most windshields wheras the Flare is made of polycarbonate. Bottom line the Klock Werks windshield is a high quality product, not every ones favorite but still a high quality product. Btw I'm 6.4 and have 34" inseam.

I don't think he is calling it garbage based on the material. He is referring to the wind management or at least that's what I got out of it and I agree if that is the case. I tried the 8" and it felt smoother to me than the 12" but couldn't hear the radio. The 8" KW is probably the best looking shield made for these bikes outside of a custom made shield.

What year is your bike?

I don't disagree that you could go about it a different way but everyone is different. I also feel that sometimes people take things a little bit on the personal side if someone bashes a product that they have on their own bike and happen to like. Sometimes it's easier to just say that they like the product and give their experience instead of telling the negative reviewer he is wrong about how he went about it. But everyone is different...

My Klock Werks story. Bought a '15 RG in Rapid City during Sturgis this year. It was getting late and I was going to buy one of his windshields. The rest of his employees were loaded up in the 15 pax van and in a hurry to leave, but himself and a 12-13 year old took the time to let me test ride the windshield, re-clean it when I returned and just went out of his way to make it not a hassle at quitting time. The young man he has working for him was the most knowledgeable in the entire group. He didn't have to do that, he could have said, "come back tomorrow you're only getting a windshield. But he took the time to make sure everything was OK. So I don't think his products or customer service is garbage

Great Shield

I've got a 14 inch flair on my '15 RGS. It only sits 9 inches off the top of the dash and works great! I'm 6'1" and I can hear the radio well and it keeps MOST of the air off me. I want some air since I'm on a bike :).

I'm bummed others aren't having luck with it but it's one of the best upgrades I've made.

Guess I'm in the same boat as you.... I have 1 on my 15RGS and absolutely love it!!!

Looks great Works Great and gets plenty of compliments. Toss up between this shield, seat and bars as far as best mod comfort wise for me

I'm about 6 foot and love my 8" Klock Werks but at 70ishmph and up it buffets pretty bad but is doable. I have a 12" to try but I don't care too much about music when I ride but may put it on for the summer travel season.
Garbage? Not so far as I can vouch for...

Looks like you have one fine looking sled there StalkR.
Post up a full picture of your sled.

To answer the question above about how the KW 14" SF works for our better half's, my wife said it worked well for her.
Yes she has a little wind on her but she said she really liked it just the way it is.

I bought a Klockwerks windshield when I first got my 08 and I run it for about a year and then I swapped out to a Windvest and then I realized how much of a POS the Klockwerks windshield was.
It has been Windvest windshields for my bike since then, but I would have never known that there was a better windshield out there if I didn't take a chance and buy a Windvest.

8" KW on my2013 RGC

When I first picked up my 2013 RG, one of the first changes I needed to make was the windshield. I went with the 8" KW for the look, as well as testimonials from friends. I am 5'9" with a 30" inseam, and at first, the KW didn't seem like it was going to cut it. I was still getting buffeting over 65 MPH, and as I was getting ready to set out for a 6,000 mile trip, I knew something had to change.

I picked up the Engine Guard mounted wind deflectors, and that made a world of difference. almost all of the buffeting is gone, simply because the vacuum created by the Flare is now gone. I went from Toronto, across Canada to Vancouver island, then back home through the States, and though the bike got COATED in bugs more than a few times, my beautiful face remained pretty well unscathed!

Now I have the windshield that (IMO) I think looks the best on the bike, and I am able to do all the long distance riding I want.

KW 14" works great. No more wind blast to the face, or riding hunched over. Don't have to turn volume up to 3/4 or more to hear it.

I love my 14" sport flare. It made the bike great for me. I was so disappointed with the stock shield. After 60 the radio was a waste. The wind was hitting me right at the brim of my helmet. Now I can hear my radio at 80+ and the wind is about 4" above my helmet. Great product!!!!
