Help - Can't remove windshield screw

On of the screws is just spinning and I can't get the windshield off. Anyone have any suggestions on what it is going to take to fix this? It is the outer screw. This is a '15 CVO RGU. I am also trying to remove the speaker to see if I can get access behind it, but the speaker (original boom stage 1) seems too large to come out.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try to wedge something behind the shield to put some outward pressure on it, hopefully that will get the screw out. Might even be able to grab the sheild and pull out a bit. The nut is probably not grabbing the fairing so it's just spinning. When you get the screw out, I would replace the well nut and grab several more while at the dealer. This is probably the only part at the dealer that is cheap, get extras.

They're no well nuts on the Rushmore RG. The screw threads into a brass insert. Either the insert got stripped somehow, or the screw never made it into the insert. Maybe the shield will pull out with screw attached, or slide a small screwdriver and help ease it out while turning the screw.

Had the same problem on my 97 EGU which used the the same type of brass nuts set into the plastic. My fix was to remove all other screws then pulled the shield off, with screw still attached. Used 2 vice grips to separate. Installed new brass nut using jb weld & tapped in a couple of brad nails, which I cut even with a dremil. Jb weld & brads were used due to the plastic hole being stripped larger than the nut. Resolved the trouble and had no further problems.

They've got the screw covered. Now about that speaker, I just changed mine out (same bike) and it does take some wiggling and maybe a little pulling on the fairing to get it out without loosening up the "acoustic pod" behind it to give you a little more room.
