Wild 1 Outlawz install

I am thinking about buying a set of wild 1 12" Outlawz. I have never messed around with my bike before so I was wondering if a beginner can easily do the install? I have seen the threads on installing the new handlebars, but wanted to get some input from somebody that has done it. Also is there anything else needed when doing the install such as new hand grips? Thanks so much for any help!!!

You can do it, just take your time pulling the wires. Stick with the "how to" threads here. You can use the same grips. Go ahead and get poly bushing while your at it.

Would you recommend just getting the harley poly bushings? Or does Wild 1 carry some that you know of?

Actually changing out the bars is not a big deal at all. The bitch is getting the wires around the bend. It just takes a lot of patience and follow the threads and directions given on here. You'll be able to do it. As far as bushings if your not going over 12" you really don't need to change the bushings. Not that there that expensive.

I used Wild 1 bushings, but the harley ones would be ok too.

I would have been done with mine, but was sent the wrong clutch cable, new one is en route.

Like has been mentioned, get poly bushings, and just take your time. You can re use the same grips or get new ones, it's up to you.

My only other advice, get one size bigger than you think you want. I was scared the 14's would be too tall and they're MUCH shorter than I expected from the pictures I have seen on here.

Now I wish I would have went 16".......

But I'm not going to return all the cables and bars, and undo internal wiring and re-do it, etc, etc .......


At least not now anyways, we will see after I get some miles on the bike..........

My WO-612 Outlawz have arrived. I hope / plan to install them in two weeks. (I work next weekend).
I sure hope all the threads are accurate cause you guys convinced me I can do this myself...

The 612's will be a breeze because you don't have to extend wires or change clutch and brake lines.

Check the height before you unwrap them and put them on, my 614's were way too short.......

Does everything get routed internally? I have seen threads that say that for the 12" the clutch line will need rerouted, but from the picks that I have seen both the brake and clutch lines have not been routed interal. Can anybody clear this up for me?

For internal they're referring to the electrical wires NOT the clutch and brake.

However, D&D custom cycles does do "ghost bar" setups, where everything is run internally, and it looks pretty slick, but not cheap.
