H-D Garage Door Opener

I picked up an H-D Garage Door opener and am having trouble with the installation instructions.
Now I know there are a few other types of openers out there, but I'm not looking for suggestions for them.
I bought the additional harness that connects to the plug behind the left side cover. Got that done and routed up to the battery area.
I put the sticky tape on the transmitter and stuck it to the plate under the fairing.
The instruction say to connect the black wire (from the transmitter) to the black wire from the harness near the battery. The wires aren't long enough and there aren't any additional wires long enough to reach. I'm kinda lost at this point. Am I supposed to just provide my own wire for this, or am I trying to connect the wrong wires?
The instructions also say to connect the white wire of the transmitter to the white wire of the head lights and the same with the yellow wire. There are no white and yellow wires from the headlights and the yellow wire from the transmitter is actually yellow and white.
Now I have installed quite a few items into Harleys over the years, but this set of instructions beats them all for being vague, lousy pictures and probably missing steps. The mix of instructions to cover the seven or so other types of bikes doesn't really help when trying to track on just the 2016 FLTR procedures.
Does anybody understand these instructions?

I'm seeing that people are reading but no responses yet.
I think I'm getting somewhere now. Ya have to really be payin attention to the instructions and being creative with work around techniques. They don't give you even a 1/2" excess wire in these kits, so ya have to figure out how they must have routed the wires in the engineering setup in order to get the wires to reach.
They provide additional ground wire, but it's about 5" to short to make the link between the transmitter and the connector back by the battery. The real troubling part is that they don't even tell ya that you'll need a few inches more wire to complete it. Probably got a good laugh out of it when they put the final instruction sheet together.

The instruction sheet came with the GDO. The way it's broken down is really stupid if ya ask me. It goes by a step at a time and runs through every model that the GDO will work with. Ya have to search through the instructions with each step to find the model your applying it to then try to figure out what the heck they're referring to.
Maybe a finished application illustration would be helpful, but heck, it has ya doing stuff that ya have no idea why. That makes it difficult to follow the installation procedure.

Doubt this is much help, but I had the dealer take off the unit from my 2011 Road Glide and add it to my 2015 Special. They needed to add an extra piece than for the pre-Rushmore bikes. What year is yours?

I posted my bike information in the first post 2016 FLTRI.
I finished the install this evening. Once again, I think these instructions are written for the school trained technicians and not for the owner who may only do this one time.
If I did my DoD tech manuals like Harley does theirs, I would have been unemployed years ago.

I'm wondering why you have to buy this stupid pigtail/ Y-connextor from Harley to pick up power under a side cover when essentially there is ignition power under the fairing and you don't have to run any wires under the tank at all ? I'll be installing mine soon on my 17' RGS and will post my findings.
