The stock, incandescent bulbs suck for lighting the gauge. The multiple SMD lights stick up into the gauge like the stock bulbs do, so they suck as well, just brighter. The one on top of the 5 SMD is probably too far into the gauge to do anything, the other 4 shine to the side, like the stock bulb. I was surprised (pleasantly) at the difference.

One other word of advice when changing bulbs. When you put the fairing back on, leave the headlights out so you can fish your hand up to the gauges and make sure the light did not get pulled out of the gauge when you were having fun with the turn signals while mounting your fairing. The turn signal wires hang from the bundle that includes the gauge lights. On more than one occasion I pulled the gauge lights out while "enjoying" my fairing experience.
Good info ONG. I figured the brighter Lumen and wider angle of the other two would be better. But I see what you are saying about sitting back away from the gauge face. And with the fact they are 28 Lumen they should be plenty bright enough.

So would you say these light up the face evenly??? No hot spot in the middle.

ONG thanks for fixing the link, the "Here" in your post is the same one I had. Not sure what happened when post for it to break.
Thanks also for the impute, on the bulbs. I will most likely be using the blue to match my bike and then send the speedo and tach out.

Here is the thread I got the idea from. It will give me a few winter projects besides just changing the fluids.
"OpenRoadRG" did his speakers and gauges in blue. It looks really nice. On page 3 he has a pick of everything (faceplate and tach/speedo).
