255 SE Cams And V&H FP3 Being Installed

Well I have ordered the parts.

Harley Davidson 255 SE Cams And Vance & Hines / FP3 Fuel Management System.

Should have everything in my hands by the end of the week, then it goes into my dealership to have them do the install.

I will also have a the full maintenance done on my bike along with have having a new rear tire put on.

Should be a nice little upgrade.

There are many aftermarket cams out there but I have read the reviews on the 255 SE Cams, and have heard great things.

My buddy put them in on his SGS and I have to say wow, nice difference from stock.

If your not familiar with the Vance & Hines / FP3 Fuel Management System, you might want to check it out on you tube.

A great little system that allows you to AutoTune your own bike with great results.

I'll post up the results once the installation is complete and I have put on some miles.

You will enjoy the added HP and torque the cams give you. Looking forward to hearing how you like it over stock.

Are they going to put the bike on a dyno and use the FP3 to tune? Or are you loading the V&H map and running auto tune?

Swo, I don't doubt you've done extensive research on cam choice, and that the difference in performance of your buddy's SGS helped seal the deal for you. So it begs the question, if the Rushmore 103 HO's cam is professed to be the 255 with very slight difference, why such a difference in performance? Does your buddy's bike have some parts on it that might be improving his performance that much over yours? Maybe someone else can chime in as well.

I hope that you're as happy as I am with my recent mods. I had a .255 on a 103 in a pre-Rushmore bike and loved it. Almost went with the .255 again. Enjoy, Swo.

I'm going to do the normal maps then auto tune it.
Should be better over then my current setup.
If and when I have extra cash floating around I might put it on a dyno but for now I'm going to use the FP-3 Auto tune software. On my buddies bike I noticed better throttle response and the bike was quicker between the 3,200 rpm and 4,200 rpm. The bike will not run as hot and the deceleration popping will disappear.

To be clear, the 103 HO cam is no SE255, just that I had read (on the internet..lol) it was similar in specs. In another forum, there's a pretty cool detailed graphic which reflects intake and exhaust timing and duration of the 2013 cam vs 2014. It's in that graphic they're saying the timing specs of the HO cam are closer to the SE 255. Me, I dunno, which is why I thought I'd ask. I like the longer duration of the SE255 vs the stock. Should be fun!

SE255 cams in a 2013 RGU

Hey good luck with your bike, the SE255's are great, don't believe the "school bus" analogies etc. You've got a bike that weighs in at 875ish pounds.... it's not a rocket.... Who runs a bike at 5000 plus rpm's all the time anyway? But it will get up and go. You will be happy!! CSM-H
