NEW S&S No Compression Cams.

Does anyone have any info about S&S's new cam set up with the compression releases built into the cams. I've seen all the info on there website but I'm looking for people with hands on experience with this product.

S&S easy start cams

Recently installed S&S 106 kit with Screaming eagle CnC"d heads and 585 S&S easy start cams.These cams are highway cams not the torque cams.High lift.Turns over like a stock bike.Soo Easy.Not a chance of battery drain.Comes on extremely strong at about 2700 rpm and stays over 100 ft lbs of torque till redline.Will try to drop the rpm kick to just a little lower maybe 30 tooth sproket would help or iff anyone has suggestions I'm all ears.What a great website thanks everybody 103 horsepower 111 torque.gear driven cams

The heads had valves installed as purchased.The price was about that figure.Thought the valves were oversized.I thought the figures would be higher myself.At least 1hp per ci.or better.I think i would have been better off with reported heads by S&S to match their pistons and jugs.The Harley heads were quoted in catalog as supporting up to 585 lift.Still jhoping to get the torque to come on just a little sooner.It really screams when it kicks in and doesnt stop till redline

Watty, I'm putting in the S&S 551's, But it's winter up here. So it may be awhile before I can get it out.

I'm going with the S&S 106,551 ez start cams, adjustable push rods, feuling lifters, se compensator, S&S tuned induction intake, pcv autotune. I've heard good things about the ez start cams, kinda new to hear alot of feedback good or bad as far as reliability goes.

Watty, Those are great numbers. You dont want a PMS motor do you? you got a good RELIABLE! motor.

Go with the s&s 551 EZ cam and you'll be cool. It should come on between 1500 and 2000 RPM.

how about the s&s 583? Tq curve looks similar to the 551 without the dip at 3k. I am researching the 106 kit and looking for advice on cam choice. Ive had the 585 before and it seems to come on too late. Had a lot of pinging too that they couldnt tune out of?? Anyone else have experience with the 106 kit?

Take it apart. replace cam assy.
How did I know . No compression or very little.
Not basshing the cams just not sure of them at this time.. Just waiting. I test everything before I sell them..
I'll stick to the old S&S cams for now.

I'm with you on this one, I seem to remember that cam style on one of my 2 strokes when I was younger and it ended up screwing up.
I'm sure technology has marched forward and I admire the guys who forge ahead with the "first off" stuff, but not for me - don't want to re-invent the wheel and it would bug me in the back of the brain on the long roadtrips. I can yank comp. releases anywhere and soak them down in wd40......
