Not a big fan of chrome brand badges, not even Harley badges.
I always remove them to really show off the paint.
So much easier to wax and keep nice as well. Everybody knows it's a Harley already.
I'm going to have my chromed tank badges painted Vivid black.
Then I might put them back on.

I'll get some outdoor pictures up soon.

Here is an old picture after they were removed.

The badges are mounted with automotive foam tape.

I used fishing string and cut between the tank and foam tape.

Pulled the string vertically up and done.

Takes badges right off without hurting the paint finish.

Then you have to deal with the tape that is still on your tank.

I used a blow dryer on the tape to heat it up.

Then peeled it off.

Whatever was left I used WD-40 on a microfiber rag and removed the remaining adhesive.

Then I used Maguires spray wax and wiped the tank down.

Then used Maguires wax and waxed it up real good.

Then used a new microfiber rag and hit it again.

The paint looks like brand new.

I have been wanting to do it since I brought it home so I finally just got off my ass and did it.

I'm digging the look on this bike for sure.

Still think I'll be painting my badges vivid black and might be putting them back on.

Thanks guys for the remarks.

Might not be for everyone but it's my bike and like making it look different then all the rest.

Everyone knows it's a Harley so there you go.

I would never remove the Harley Davidson logo because it legendary and it accents the bike in every way. Not everybody knows what a Harley looks like . Don't be surprised if somebody comes up and says nice Honda to you. Thats like the ultimate insult to me lol. I'm proud to own and ride a bike that says Harley Davidson on the tank. My Jeep says Jeep on it and i'm a Jeep enthusiast. I liken removing the HD logo to grinding off the Snap On or Craftsman on my tools but hey its a free world.

Hmmmmm, the bike looks good, you know the bike looks good. So here's the only BAD thing I can say about it.

Looking at the photos without badging....somehow looked familiar to me. That look. Where have I seen THAT look before.

So after bopping around the website, perusing other threads for a couple minutes...it dawned on me. I think I got it.

I like the look without badges. But without them it looks...........older.

Does that make sense? Of course its just a weird feeling I had and it's not a great representation (the pic) of what it would look like in person. But the feeling I got was kinda that I was looking at a 10 or a 20 year old bike....I guess you could call it a "classic" look. If I had to pick between one or the other....I guess I'd go with the badge on.

Now that said.....I REALLY like the idea of blacked out badging. Now THATS the kind of subtle detail I like and I think your bike is known for. I'll look forward to seeing that.
