i just bought smoked lenses for my ride, the front looks great with the amber bulbs, but the red bulbs for the rear look pink.
Not sure if the kit just came with cheapo bulbs, or if all red 1157 bulbs wash out to pink. So my questions is, if I get a set at autozone, will they be better, or is there some special bulb I need to look for, or should I just put my red lenses back on with clear bulbs, and be done with it?
I understand the money part of it but it's not just going to fix the color issue. It will also help you be seen a LOT better, especially in the daytime when break lights can get washed out on a bright sunny day. Not much compares to the CD LED lights for less money. I took the money I was going to spend on chrome or powder coating and spent it on the lights first. It is hard to get past the cost for bulbs though. I get it.... But once you do, you will love it.
Another thing to add: out of ALL the bikes that I ride with most of them are running CD products. In 3 years I have only seen 1 LED from them go out and it had been on the bike for over 18mos and about 25k. My buddy called CD and they replaced it free of charge no questions asked. He just has to send the old LED back to them.
The Phillips LED's from AutoZone work really well. Very red. You do have to dremel down the edge of the bulb slightly so that it will fit in the socket.
Mine are my brake lights like yours so I left the red lenses but my Ultra they were just blinkers so I ran amber with smoked lenses. I never tried any other LED bulbs with smoked lenses. If you do, let us know how it turns out, please!
I put the CD lights in the front and back turn signals and I love them, they really do increase your bikes visibility, they are pricey but safety is worth the cost IMO.
