I just noticed on my bike it looks like the pigtails were already there and this is after I had installed a set the day I picked the bike up.. does Harley install these standard? I'm not confusing the plug for something else, right?

My 2012 FLTRU came with the connector installed on the right side of the bike.

I never used one until my battery on my CVO went dead because of the alarm system. (at least thats what i was told killed the battery) Now I use it whenever i remember.

I have a battery tender and a battery minder. Both seem to work fine but the battery minder is supposed to desulfate ??? the battery also whatever that is.

both use the same type connector so you can switch them without a problem.

Every time my bikes are parked in the garage, they are on the Tender. I got 5 years out of an original battery. I ended up replacing it solely for piece of mind. I still use that old battery on a generator.

Sometimes to achieve the impossible,you have to try the absurd!

The 3 bikes I've purchased from my local dealer all had the pigtails already installed. On my glide, I tuck it in down in the notch where the transmission shifter lever is. They originally had it cable-tied coming out the right side of the engine where I could barley reach it through the pipes and if I wasn't careful, I'd have to scrape off melted plastic from my pipes. If you make sure it's short enough, it shouldn't contact anything hot.

I used the Battery Tender Plus on my '01 Ultra, the battery lasted till the fall of 2010, so I tend to be a believer. I recently bought package deal on Ebay, 4 Battery Tender Jr's, so now have one on my RGU, seldom driven pickup, v8 trike, skid loader and zero turn mower. Very comforting to know that any of them will start at a moments notice.

2015 RGU CVO........under continuous change......

As far I'm concerned, this is a must-have accessory. I'm pretty busy so even in the summer I don't get to ride every day. My old Road King went 7 years on the original battery, which I credit to keeping it plugged into the battery tender when it wasn't being ridden.

A new H-D battery for a Touring bike is what? around $170? The small Battery Tender is about $30. Kind of a no-brainer IMO.

My pigtail was already installed when I got it, makes it easy to hook up the charger.
