Arrow Buying within 45 Days - How much at the Dealer?


I will be buying a new or very late model Road Glide within the next 45 days. I am leaning towards buying new as a clean slate to work on, ride and enjoy.

There are 3 dealerships in my locale, all owned by the same master company. They also own the closest dealership across the border in Utah, about 90 miles away. I am also willing to drive up to 700 miles for a solid deal.

With that in mind, and considering that I am buying in winter, what should I expect to wager as a fair dealer for a cash purchase with this dealer-conglomerate?

* Should I pay list?
* Is there such a thing as "factory invoice" data on HD's?
* What about all the "add-ons" the dealers throw in such as setup, prep and doc fees? All of that is VERY BOGUS in the car.truck world.
* What should a fair freight charge be for a bike in Nevada.

All helpful comments are very appreciated.

I picked up my new 2012 BBP RGU back in July just before the 2013 was released and got it for $2K under MSRP and they installed all add ons with no labor charge. I am in VA a bit more than 700 miles. Good luck in your search

I just picked up a 13 FLTRX in San Diego. I got $2300 off MSRP with 1000 mile service included plus 15% off any accessories for the day of purchase. There were a couple of accessories already on the bike and I did not have to pay for those. I think it it helps if you can talk cash price.

our local Harley in Orlando ships , the south store gets a lot of folks on vacation at Disney that will buy one while they are here on vaction and they ship em out.

Don't let them tell you what you sould pay. It's your money you tell then wht you'll pay and be firm. If they don't take it, WALK OUT. You will never know what they will take unless you are willing to walk. BTW the dealer makes money on financing too.

If those 3 dealerships are owned by the same owner, you will get the same price no matter where you go but it doesnt hurt to test all 3 to see if you can get a great deal

The days of grtting the best deal for cash are over. Dealers make as much off financjng as they do the bike.Get your best deal with financing, make sure theres no early payoff penalty.

I just bought a 13 CVO RG Custom. Dealer did nothing off of the msrp. I paid exactly 32,999. Plus $648 prep, and a couple hundred more on Freight.
They basically told me, that alot of dealerships were marking up the CVOs.
Although I don't feel like I got much of a deal, I don't think I got ripped off either.
