and you won't find it on the hd website. it is not a p&a part. it is oem. the website gives you the p&a parts. for the oem parts, you either have to go to the 'service information portal', or to one of the online parts fiches.
I used to prefer st Charles. but it seems they've changed theirs and now do not have the 2017s loaded up. but for something that new the service information portal works just fine.
I ended up doing my own version (ACE Hardware) of Bagger Bolts, but I like these, saw them on the 17's at my dealership. They should retro fit to all RG's not just Rushmore Bikes. Might have to order these so I don't need a tool to remove bags. Thanks for posting.
They sure do protrude into the bags more than the '16. Will have to see how they work when I pick up the Road King next week and determine if I need to retrofit them onto the Road Glide Ultra.
my local dealer won't even compete with boardtracker.
Just an FYI there are other alternatives than just the HD ones. I installed these on my bike the other day and no tools needed and they come with lock washers. After seeing how they are pieced together, I could probably assemble this kit for ~$6 at lowes. No need to spend almost $40 on the HD.
if you have your saddlebag locked, then the thief can't just 'pop' the pins like they could with the dzus pins. I understand that the rushmore models have a set up where you can no longer get to the pin from behind the saddlebag, so more for us 'older' guys.... (sheesh, my bike is 'older' and I still have payments left..... lol)
I'm not changing them out yet, need more convincing, but I haven't lost a bag including a 600 mi. 80mph+ trip. Plus, these new ones I checked out at the dealer and they seem like a pain in the arse, twenty turns. I may eventually glue the spacers to the grommets though.
i just ordered 1 set. i may change out the front dzus pins on my bike and my wife's bike and replace with these, or i may just put all 4 on my bike. not sure yet. as far as how far they protrude, i don't really see it as an issue because when my saddlebags are full, that means i'm on a trip. when on a trip, i use the saddlebag inserts anyway. shouldn't interfere.
Thanks to those who posted the HD part number when I asked, much simpler to order. Got them for the perfect price, free. Used a dealership rewards certificate. At the Salt Lake HD you earn loyalty points for each purchase or service. which you get the reward certificate with.
Dealer had kits on the counter and since I have 30% discount until mid November I went ahead and got a set. Never had an issue, but if Harley changed them, enough people must have had issues.
I put those on over last winter and it sure is nice to take all the worry about loosing a bag out of the equation.
Best $ I've spent in awhile.
