So coming from the beast who rans sans Crashbar, I have a hard time with the look of the '17 and its stock crashbar so I went out and procured this little beauty:

Well just cram it right up there dry docked.....I'll be damned if you don't have to pull the whole fucking faring off to put this POS on - Fucking Harley.........I guarantee I'll break something

Whoa, just whoa, slow your roll there SteadyEddie, you're going to do a mod? Seriously, you, a mod to your stock bike?

Okay. The new fairing on your stock M8 is very easy to deal with. Do you have service manual?

1st. Protect your front fender with a towel or moving blanket, something thicker than one of those old raggedy t shirts you hang around the house in. If you're gonna screw something up it will be dropping your outer faring onto your front fender and scratching it. Trust me, wedge the towel between the front shocks a couple layers thick to protect the fender.

2nd. Take you time, follow the instruction in the service manual to remove the outer faring. It's easy just take it step by step.

3rd. Don't force anything. The speaker grills will pop out easy just apply light pressure.

4th. You can do this, just follow all the instructions provided, throw away the screws/bolts/washers/nuts that they tell you too or keep them with the old crashbar in a ziplock bag taped to the bar so that if you ever want to change back, you can.

5th. Upon completion of the task, reach over your shoulder, pat yourself on the back and have a beer or alcoholic libation of your choice, it is well deserved.

I'm still try to understand why you would have to take the fairing off to install engine guards. I just had my engine guard off to drill for speakers and lights, the only reason I had to remove the fairing was for wiring. BTW the Rushmore's fairing is sooooo easy compared to 13 down.

The Sun broke out for the 1st time in days so we rode last night.........looks like Sunday is the next Rain Day so we will tackle then.

All kidding aside, I know it is easy but just tedious and thanks all for the tips and tricks - @calgaryglide, good insight on the front fender cover as that is something I would totally do

You guys are gonna plots when I take my Slips off and drill out the cones to replace with Fullsacs........The world may just stop on its axis for a second or two

I have $20 that says Eddie will buy a new bike before the engine guards get replaced

I know you can do it Eddie! Hell first time I took mine off, I just went in blind and had it off in 30/40 minutes. Now it's a 10 minute job.
Just remember to leave the top 2 middle screws, that hold the windshield, in until the last step. That way the fairing won't surprise you and drop..................Happy Modding!
