Looking for feedback here. Dealer letting me demo the Tallboy Seat over long weekend. Already like that it sits me back some. I'm 6'1 and running at 2017 RGS.
I'm 6'3" with a 36" inseam and have the Tallboy seat, I had it thrown in the deal when I bought my bike. To me it takes the bike from uncomfortably cramped to rideable. In addition to setting you back it also drops you down which depending on your inseam creates a different problem as far as knee bend is concerned. I ride with my feet on the highway pegs most of the time so to me it's really a non-issue. All and all for the money it's a decent seat and it serves me fine. Obviously you can spend a lot more on a custom or semi-custom seat from any number of manufacturers, it just comes down to your personal tolerance. I myself can roll on the Tallboy all day and not complain, your ass may tell you different!
I appreciate it. 6'1 with 33 inseam. Only 208-215 depending on what I'm eating. Ha. Should work fine. May pull trigger but nice to test for more than few hours
I tried a demo tallboy seat for a weekend from my local dealer last year and it was not for me. My buddy had a La Pera Daddy long legs seat which he let me use for a weekend and was 100x more comfortable. I'm quite a bit taller than you so the tallboy may work for you. Try a couple different brands if you can. Good luck.
6ft 8in, 34" inseam here. I had the Tallboy from day one as I knew the stocker put the boys up on the tank. It got me back far enough and with highway pegs was relatively decent. However I wanted a rider's backrest for the long trips, and H-D's adjustable one isn't compatible with the Tallboy seat, and no matter what position I tried, their standard backrest put the boys back on the tank like I was still on the stock seat.
Looked at the Corbin and LePera options, but there ended up being something about each that I didn't really care for, so I also looked at the Mustang Summit. It wasn't the fanciest, but it had a backrest, looked good to me, and actually looked like it would support my fat ass comfortably too. 6K+ miles later I'm very happy with my choice and have been recommending it to the other big & tall riders that ask. YMMV.
TL;DR = If you even think you're going to want a backrest (now or later), don't waste your time/money on a Tallboy and get one of the aftermarket seats that appeals to you. Corbin, LePera, and Mustang all have viable options, and all have customer service departments that will help you chose the right one for you.
There are a couple of different backrest assemblies. The earlier style wont even show through the slot in the seat. The newest one in the 4th hole isn't bad for me but I am only 6'2". I would like to be able to angle it a little further back but it is acceptable. I am thinking of sending it out for a gel/rebuild? Maybe 6'2" is the max for the tallboy?
I will have to look at the mustang you have. I have had and been happy with their seats in the past. On an older bike I had a saddleman road sofa and loved it but I've tried talking to them and it seems they have forgotten customer service?
I'm thinking about one, too. I'm not that tall at 6'0", but I stopped in a dealership in Nashville a number of months ago and they happened to have one on a bike on the floor. I sat on it and it just felt perfect. I remember thinking that whenever I trade for a Rushmore THAT would be my seat. I'm thinking about grabbing on as a general seat and keep my hammock for long trips. (I just traded for a 15 FLTRUSE).
Being 6'5" I had to get a seat that moved me back. The Tall Boy seemed like would be perfect for me. I road tested one and then bought one.
The road test just wasn't enough time to really get a "feel" for this seat. For me, it was very uncomfortable. Not only that, but to me, it was just plain ugly! Luckily, I was able to sell it quickly and did not lose too much money. The buyer loves it!
I finally settled on a MustangVintage Solo with back rest and I'm quite happy with it. I don't think that there is any one seat that will be perfect for every one.

I just got one today. I will be doing some seat time today so hopefully it will be decent as I only demoed one for about 30 minutes. It certainly gives me more leg room and my wife will be more comfortable. As for its looks ... stock looks better.
Let me know your review. Ride for about 300. Was not overly impressed. Suffer from no ass at all. Great for about first 90 then kept moving around. Will go out again today or tomorrow to test again
6'-4" & I have the TallBoy seat but only use it when my girlfriend rides with me but she hates me most of the time so it's barely used Good seat, much better then stock. Had the Daddy Long leg, awesome seat but passenger pad is small on the Lepera so my brother has it on his and loves it. My gf's fat ass fits perfectly on the Tallboy.
6'5" with a 38" inseam. I'm on my 2nd bike with a Mustang 1 piece super tourer. It sits you back 1.75". Both rider and passenger seats are wider than the tallboy. My $.02...
Yeah. Did a 300 mile day on Saturday and was not happy with it. Did another 110 on Sunday to be sure. Felt good when out on highway pegs but otherwise, kept moving around more and more. Like position but not comfortable to me.
Rode 110 miles (one way) to my local dealer this am. Demo'd a Tall Boy seat. Only rode the Tall Boy about 80 miles and decided I really have to give this seat a shot. Harley states this seat moves you back 1 1/2 inches. I believe its more like 2 1/2 or 3. Threw my Air Hawk on it and like the way it sits still. Air Hawk on stock seat sit me higher and closer to the bars. Air Hawk on Tall Boy seems to sit me a little taller but much better fit than stock seat.
One thing I have never seen mentioned is the foot controls. I was considering installing extended shifter and brake lever. But with the TB seat it sure seemed like the foot controls were easier to get to and sure fit me better. By the way I'm 6'2" and know 80 miles is not a very long ride with a new seat, but I ordered it anyway. It's only money.
I have a Mustang 2 piece with a removable backrest on my 2015 RG. Sits me back and down. I'm 6'-2" 34" inseam. Great seat, wife likes the pillion, plenty wide, and just the right firmness she says. Riding out west we did 700 mile days, without pain. Looks better than the one piece behemoths on the market IMO.
I'm 6'3 & love the tall boy. One problem though, the pillion sits higher and the standard 14" sissy bar hits my 5'9" wife too low in the back due to the extra cushion height. Any recommendations on custom bar makers??
Sorry for the late response. It's the Vintage solo with a removable back rest Part Number: 79600
and the 11" wide passenger seat Part Number: 79356. Hope this helps you out.
