The reason the RG is delayed is that they will try to put the radiators in the fairing. It is possible because the fairing is fixed!!!
Maybe one on each side with a 69 Mach I style scoop. Or in the center like a 65 vette, above the headlights since there will be all that room when they move the radio to the sppedo console area!
I need to hit the photoshop. Maybe if they wont, a can do this when I retrofit the 2014 Twin Cool 110 to my 09 RG!!!!
It is my understanding that the Road Glide is due back in 2015 after a redesign of the inner fairing to compensate for the new bigger radio.
I also had a salesman tell me they may experiment with a Limited...
Has anyone else heard any rumors?
There will be three levels of the Road Glide when it is reintroduced...Custom, Limited and CVO. The RG Custom will be similar to the 2014 SG only with a Shark fairing. It will be basic and not offer the infotainment center of the SG Special. It will not offer lower fairings or be twin cooled...103". The RG Limited will be similar in features to the 2014 EG Limited offering the twin cooling and upgrades of the EG Limited..103". The RG CVO will feature similar options to the EG CVO...110". Both the Limited and CVO will have a fairing system that appears to extend from the Shark nose upper to the lower fairing in one piece. They will both be badazz looking. New colors across the board.
I Think it is gonna be an ugly S.O.B. Being a Sales Manager for Harley I will know First and will post any info or pics I get . But don't expect a mid year release
Just got my new Motorcycle Bagger magazine with speculation that the Road Glide is indeed gone. Dane Gingerelli states, "Our guess is that given the fork-mounted batwing's sleeker, aerodynamic configuration, Harley-Davidson dropped the FLT line due to it's more complex (and costly) mounting system." Later in the magazine he states the Road Glide is gone, replaced with the new reconfigured batwing. Of course this is his speculation.
I asked my dealer today of they heard any new rumors about a new RG. They said that by coincidence, one outfit helping design new fairing changes is local and had dropped by the shop here recently - but that they were totally tight lipped about what the changes might be like.
Glad to hear that maybe they really are working on it - so we'll see something before too long. I imagine it will be similar to the other 14 improvements with a new fairing. Should make an awesome motorcycle!
looking at a rg headon is bitchin, way better looking then the bat.oh then the ride in weather.the moco can do whatever I have minehttp://www.roadglide.org/images/icons/icon10.gif

They'll probably relocate the speedometer/tach into the fairing, and at the same time move the inner fairing (or at least a portion of it) closer to the rider, to make the "reach" easier.
I like the re-design of the batwing fairing.
Hopefully the new Road Glide will be as tasteful.
The big question -- what kind of engine upgrade will it receive?
I was in a dealership today, and the sale guy said that the really big changes aren't arriving until 2016-17 or so... (for whatever that's worth)
I've got an "in" that tells me the new Shark sucks nitro... with Phase 4 heads too! 600 horsepower through the rear wheel! She's meanness set to music and the bitch is born to run!...

HD will put the 110" in stock sooner than later to contend with its competitors that currently have the 107" and 111" stock. The "high output 103" is just a step to delay that, but its coming. We had the 88, then 96, now 103, see a pattern here?
Where I live, there are almost no Road Glides. When I go to other places, like Virginia and especially New Hampshire, I am amazed that they seem to be the majority.
I'm beginning to wonder how many '13 RGs they built after they quit building the rest of the line-up?? Sure seems to be alot of people still finding '13s in the showrooms this late in the year.....
I was told the singular reason there is no Roadglide for 2014 is because the equipment to make it is in the process of being replaced.
Now I would assume when it comes back, it will have some version of the infotainment system. Hell there are at least three aftermarket dealers, sinister being one of them, that offers RG fairings with double din radio openings.
The first explanation makes sense though. When I bought my first RG in 2009, there were very few of them on the road. That's one of the main reasons I bought it. I went on a ride last weekend and 3 of the 5 bikes were roadglides! I'm not sure what the "wear out" date was on the machines that produce the Roadglide, but the new interest over the last few years HAD to accelerate that.
from 4th qtr. 2013 Conference Call to stockholders:
" I think the bigger impact on our Q4 sales was really the Road Glide -- the absence of the Road Glide, which we completely expected, and that's going to provide some headwind with regards to retail sales as we go forward, as well as market share. And again, when you look at Q4 of 2012, Road Glide represented 9% of that volume, and that Road Glide customers are incredibly loyal to that motorcycle. It is different; it's a different design, it's a different look and a different ride. And so they -- knowing that, that -- those models are going to come back with Rushmore features, we believe that they're out of the market, and that's probably the biggest impact that we had on our retail sales in the fourth quarter."

Interesting to hear the CEO refer to shark riders as "incredibly loyal" to the Road Glide. Spot on. So, now I'm really questioning the moves they made with this bike. Why would you deliberately erode nearly double digit % volume? It's illogical, if the next shark is simply a Rushmore version with a sharknose. Would seem to lend credence to the rumor of "something big"....
Hope you are right . It is time to step not just to the edge of the box but jump out of it go bold with the new RGU.
My 2013 RGU was the first time sense 1996 I had to wait more than 15 minutes for my new Harley. I waited 3 weeks to get a Red RGU. There was one at another dealer but they would not give it up in a swap.
