The reason the RG is delayed is that they will try to put the radiators in the fairing. It is possible because the fairing is fixed!!!
Maybe one on each side with a 69 Mach I style scoop. Or in the center like a 65 vette, above the headlights since there will be all that room when they move the radio to the sppedo console area!
I need to hit the photoshop. Maybe if they wont, a can do this when I retrofit the 2014 Twin Cool 110 to my 09 RG!!!!
On 3/18 the first 30 2015 roadglides were built on the production line. Unless they appear sooner I would say you will get your first look in September when SOA airs. This is the first time I remember seeing the Rushmore bikes. I could be wrong about the first public viewing but I know the bikes were built.
My source at HD tells me the 2015 RG will not be water cooled or water cooled heads. You can do a Google search to see the inner fairing of the new RG with the Project Rushmore screen inlay. I was told the reason they didn't build the 2014 RG is that the mold for the new inner fairing kept cracking and they weren't confident they could fix it in time for the 2014 roll out. I hope they come out with a CVO RG Ultra in Atomic Orange and black. I think the CVO touring model colors were not great for 2014. I have a 2013 CVO RG Anniversary. Love the bike, color is just okay. I hope whatever they do to the fairing helps eliminate the wind buffeting. Not bad unless I put my feet on the highway pegs. Then the wind tunnel effect will blow off my do-rag if it isn't tied real tight. I guess we can speculate all we want but until August/September rolls around it is all speculation.
I can see the RGC not being water cooled, but I see no way they will have the RGU & not have it water cooled. Now maybe they are only going to have the RGC - time will tell....
This is NOT some "official scoop" but makes sense. Talked to one of the managers at my dealer of choice over the weekend. He is also a Glide fan. His theory . . . between the dumfotainment system and the new speakers (said they have a plastic can over the back) the fairing will HAVE to be taller and wider. He thinks it's gonna result in a bike with "a big head and no body" He is also thinking the Ultra will be water cooled. Again, nothing official but makes sense. I plan on going on a tour of the York plant in May. I highly doubt they'll let the tour go anywhere near the Road Glide line, but one can always hope . . .
All bikes at the York plant are built on the same line. So if they let you in on a production day either they are not building them or the will divert the tour away from the assembly line all together.
