Pretty new to the forum, and don't post much but I thought I'd share with the forum. I was riding home last week heard aloud screeching sound, thought it was a bad radio station. Rode about 2 exits and out of the corner of my eye while switching lanes I noticed my saddle bag WAS GONE!!!!!!!! Got the bag back intact just bad road rash. Dealer is covering everything but I had faulty hardware. The brass fittings wore out and were no longer round. They don't know why it happened but they became oval.

One of the first mods I did was replace those connectors with a sturdier setup that has a screw in knob setup. Yes, it takes a few seconds longer to put bags on/off, but I carry about 10 lbs. of tools and crap in the left bag so anything that helps hold them on is worth it to me.

The older ones were bad about it too, but seems like I'm hearing more about it on the new bags. I replaced one of the quick turn fasteners on each bag with a regular bolt.

I just had my recall fixed, took about ten minutes. If anyone out there has not yet done so I highly recommend you get this fix done ASAP. The service tech told me they turned a guy away because the didn't have time to fix his. The guy rode off from the dealership and his saddlebag fell off on the way home. Harley tech said they would take care of that which is great. But if your like me I'd hate to lose mine as I usually have my wallet, phone gun etc in the bag when traveling. They probably are not going to replace contents without a fight.
