Red face When trailering a RG?

Just realized something and this is going to sound stupid. I've never trailered my 2010 RG, but I may have to this winter. So I'm standing in the garage looking at it the other day trying to figure out the BEST place to attach the ratchet tie-downs? For you guys that have done it before, fill me in. Thanks.

I've got a 7x12 enclosed with 3 full length e-trak and drive in front wheel chock. I remove the saddlebags and tie the rear to upper tour pak frame. Tie the front to crash bar (away from lowers). Wrap saddlebags in blankets and tie to e-trak or put in back seat of my truck.

A lot depends on what type of trailer you have and tie down access on the trailer.

Attach padded loops around front fork fender mounts and rachet straps to the loops. This ties down the front end without compressing the suspension or rubbing any painted surfaces.

X2.......there called soft ties. I used to live in the mountains and used to trailer my EGC to the grocery store parking lot at the bottom of the hill when winter wouldnt let me ride down. Pulled it into the chock and tied the fork lowers down and then added steading straps to the rear so that it wouldnt move around. Did it for years without a problem.

Get a good locking chock, I use a Condor. I use e track going on both sides of the bike. I strap over the passenger pegs, pulling the bike forward into the chock. As an extra precaution, I go thru the wheel and under the Condor to just snug. I have done this for several years with a Road King and now the Glide with no issues. Using a pingel chock and compressing the front end is not a good method, please don't ask me how I know that.

I have a 7x10 enclosed and a habor freight wheel dock. I use ratchet straps from both passenger floor board mounts to the front of trailer to hold the bike in the wheel dock. I use my luggage rack with ratchet straps to the side or rear of trailer to keep it upright. It will also depend on how many bikes and other stuff will be in it.

Not supposed to compress suspension any all? I thought just not fully compressed so it keeps bike in place and not bouncing...?

I know the fairing gets in the way for traditional tie-down, these are a great alternative.

I have the canyon dancer but they don't fit my street glide bars. I used "furry" straps around each bend of handlebars and then another set around passenger pegs and was nice on the trailer.

Get long "soft ties" and put them around the front frame right above where the crash bar mount is located. I've been using this location for many years with never a problem (both without a chock and with a chock).
