This thread got me thinking which is never a good thing and DAMN those Custom Bates Boots look VERY tempting - Has anyone done the "Measure, Mail In and Wait" thing for the Boots before? - I have rocked a few Bates Jackets that I always picked up at the local IMS but never looked at the boots.........two fiddy for Custom Made Italian Leather Riding Boots.........not too shabby
This thread also has got me to thinking and researching optional boot choices. We always do some hiking on our travels and so we pack hiking shoes along with everything else on trips. I've been riding in the HD tall heavy ass steel toe engineer boots for years but they're not for hiking. In packing for SW VI this year I'm gonna need all the room I can get for nearly 3 weeks for the 2 of us. I've pretty much decided to give these a try, Haix Black Eagle Tactical 20 High Boots. Anyone ever try these or any of the Haix boots and willing to offer an opinion on quality?
I'm gonna take back a previous recommendation in this thread on the 25410 Super Logger made by Chippewa. Its a phenomenal made in the USA boot and actually a great riding boot I finally took the jump into the Chippewa 27862 Rally Boot specifically designed for motorcycle riding. These boots by design are amazing. They are a riding boot much like a cowboy boot is for riding horses. They are a specialty boot made for motorcycle riders and the quality of the leather is second to none. It's not a walker, a jogger or crossfit . Its bike engineered for riding motorcycles and its freaking incredible compared to my Super Loggers. Its a 12" boot that allowed me to tuck my jeans in allowing me to get zero pants flap at interstate speeds. They are easy on and easy off. this video describes the boot better than i can.
i found some frye boots at a discount place.initial cost was 300.00.i paid 140.00 and wear them as a casual boot also. real comfortable,if putting jeans on thats what i wear.i have a pair of ariat moto boots,to heavy and hot.fabric swat boots are great for the heat
You guys are lucky for having a choice in boots. I wear a 14 and have a very wide foot. The problem is the toe box area where it starts to angle in. That part always crushes my pinky toe. I even ordered a pair from Hitchcock shoes one time. They make the largest and widest sizes in the world. I just have to wear something that has forgiving leather that will give way to my toe trying to bulge out the side. Sometimes I will go 1 size bigger to give some extra room. I also have 6 bulging, 2 torn disk and arthritis in my back so I need as much cushion as I can get. I don't change shoes for riding, work or walking. I wear the same boots all/every day. Right now I'm wearing Magnum Stealth series tactical boots. They are light weight and comfortable but only last me about 8 months. I've worn Timberland Pro's a lot and they only last about a year before the sole splits open. Seems all the brands that people say last a long time are very narrow and or uncomfortable when I've tried them on in the past. Probably because of the thicker quality leather not giving way for my clown feet.
Im not gonna lie i dont dont always wear boots when i ride....usually when going on a longer ride ill wear a high quality work boot but if im going on a short ride or to work ill wear sneakers...i mean if im not wearing a helmet does it really matter whats on my feet....
