Been running Alpine 149 over 4 years nice tuning adjustability with the phone App plus have USB port and RCA output for amp connection.
Not listed as water resistant but got wet many times no issue. If raining I use the cover that came with biketronic installation kit. Also using the biketronic handle bar interface.
Good luck.

I had the Panasonic Bluetooth head unit in my SG. Way under powered. USB was cutting out in days. Would jump to am. Even if it worked flawlessly it needed an amp. I pulled it out after a week. My stock HU was louder and more clear.

That the only experience I have with an aftermarket stereo in the bike.

Good luck. If ya liked the stocker. Check eBay. Should be a few on there.

Biketronics has plug and play packages. As does a few others. Check the forum sponsors pages. They give deals to forum members.

I just ordered this head unit and get it tomorrow. Really looking forward to getting it. I'm going to hear what it sounds like without an amp hooked and then test with a RF amp to see how that goes.

which one are you getting? far as i can tell, the specs from the two units are the same, one just has a better display than the other. i've been thinking of getting one for the wife's bike.

I purchased the BT5 which just has the regular screen. Not the color screen. I ordered it off amazon from Dragonfly guys for $299.99. My HK started to crap out and then ordered a cheap Sony HU and that pretty much immediately crapped out. I'm no audiophile but hope this does the trick. Dragonfly sells the BUT5 ( I think is the model designation for $499.99)

You need to check the back lighting of the new unit..I put a Kenwood in mine and couldn't read the face.. ended up taking it back out, sending my Harmon back to Iron Cross audio, having it fixed and Blue tooth added...

I'm happy to report that the install was way easy and the sound is pretty damn good. I first just connected directly to a pair of RF T165's and while it sounded really good I then hooked it up with RF 300x2 amp and it definitely increased the quality. As usual, highway speeds still generate a lot of wind noise so the sound always suffers but still pretty clear without any audio distortions. I can say this once you set the amp just right I was able to turn volume up loud enough that it was too loud for me but I got no distortion. I kept the bass levels low to avoid any hard hitting notes but other than that I'm pretty impressed. You can adjust the treble and bass thru the hand controls. As a side note I will be adding another set of the T165's to my lower fairings.
