Looking at buying either a 2013 Rg or a 2017 Rg , any comments for either would be great , I've been riding an Indian Chief for quite a few years now , just want to actually spend more time riding than working on it from the side of the road

I'd at least get a '15 with the Rushmore updates. They are great bikes. I have a '17 Road Glide Special. I love the bike, the torque of the engine is amazing, and the suspension on the '17 is a lot better than older models. While twin cams are fine engines, now that the Milwaukee 8 is out, buying a Twin Cam is like buying yesterday's paper.

Sorry man, but Indian went out of business in 1953. These phoney resurrections of the name also keep going out of business. Some Royal Enfields were labeled "Indian" in the 50's. Then the Italians sold bikes called Indian in the late 60's or early 70's. About 20 years ago C.M.C. sold "Indians with Evo engines, they finally got their own engine, but soon after, they bellied up too.

The Harley dealer network makes parts and service available where ever you go. If you like to travel a Road Glide is the "Only way to go." While Harleys are pretty reliable if something happens you aren't likely to be stranded. Indians, not so reliable and parts and service are difficult to find. Good luck!

Yes. Because one or more of the Davidson family was still involved in the day to day business. So that's a dead argument.

I'd go with a 15 or newer. Not her wrong with the pre 15s. I had an 08 SG never let me down and an 11 RGU. But the 16 is just a bit better. I have the special comes with linked abs and upgraded rear shocks. Along with nav and a painted inner fairing.

Welcome to the tank from Texas and enjoy! No company stays the same after a long time, they keep changing, hopefully for the best. In '86 I wouldn't have bought a new HD, now I own one, big changes!

Welcome Ln Vintage... I always say ride what makes you happy.
Assuming that since you've specified a '13 vs a '17 Roadie that there is more to it. Perhaps specific deals on those models?
My 2¢, and worth at least half of that, is to look this side of '09. Lots of changes for the better starting then.
Next, I would compare models up to '13 with the '15 & '16 to see if the Rushmore models offer anything significant to you.
Then, extend the comparison to the current crop. I don't usually have to be first kid on the block with the new stuff. I've ridden the M8s and like them... just don't see the "head & shoulders better" that I hear from guys who bought one. If the M8 does it for you, maybe wait until the '18s come out for a look at the second iteration & maybe bargaining room on previous models.
Good luck on the process to Road Gliding.
