I just had Progressive mono tubes installed with a 1" drop with a 21" front wheel on my 13 FLTRU. The overall ride is improved but it is bottoming out on some small lips when transitioning from the road to a parking lot and small (unavoidable) distortions/holes in the road. Is anyone else experiencing this? Are they defective?
The fender is not hitting as far as I can tell. No scratches or dents.
Mine are at a 1" drop also and mine have done this since day one, progressive says there is nothing wrong with them, even though my first original set lowered at 2" never did it. hopefully pulling these out and replacing them with legends axeo or ohlins soon
Did you put the shims in the mono tubes on installation?
Progressive gives you shims to stiffen the ride of the monotubes according to riders weight, you can install 1 to 3 shims on each monotube.
You may want to contact Progressive and see what they say.
You may need an extra shim or 2 depending on your ride weight but keep in mind that since you did a 1" drop you just took away that much in your total travel. There isn't a whole lot of travel on these things to begin with so 1" is a lot.
I installed 3 shims as per progressive, the more shims the stiffer the ride and less drop. 3 shoms gives about an 1.25 drop, if you take shims out to soften ride it lowers it more, per progressive
I did a 1'' drop on my '07 rg, it came out to be 1.5'' and rode good but bottomed out. On my '13 rgu I went with stock height Racetech hd springs and gold valves set for my weight (270) and I bottom out very seldom now.
