Who has installed wired communication on their RGS?

Who has installed the Boom Audio Music and Communication kit on their 2015 or 2016 RGS? I have a Sena SMH10 Bluetooth but that has its limitations. Going wired is the only way to access the full function of the Boom Box Audio. Did you use the HD Kit or an aftermarket kit? What were your results and thoughts. Where did you mount the plug?

Subscribed, because I have the same question. I looked into one of J&Ms systems. It was way to spendy for me at this moment. I want to be able to talk with my passenger and use 2-way radios with friends. That is my basic need.

If all you want to do is speak with passengers and friends and answer phone calls, a Bluetooth headset like my Sena SMH 10 would do the trick. You just can't communicate with the Boom Audio box and Navigation. cHeck out the Sena products. reasonable and work well. I bought a 2 pack of headsets. I can listen to my iPhone music, answer / make calls, and Walkie talkie to a passenger and friends. All basically exclusive of the Boom Audio. There are other good brands too. See REVZILLA.COM.

Thanks JHL, I will take a look at the Sena. Good thing is RevZilla is only on the other side of the river from me. And, it is a quick stop at lunch when I am at work. Great store. Great people.

Not sure if this is an option for anyone in the thread, but figured I would let you know what I did ... and I love it. I have voice control of the radio ( changing stations ), USB thumb drive music( next track and search ), Navigation ( "Destination 1235 market St Reno, NV" ) and send and receive calls on my phone via BT... ALL THRU THE RADIO for less than $25.... NO COMM between riders or bikes though....

Here is the link where I explain how I added a noise- cancelling Microphone to my 15RGS... NO WIRES hanging to a headset and works well at 75mph with my Thunder Header....

I installed the HD wired connection and bought the wired headsets, but I didn't like the wire hanging off my head. So I went with the Sierra Electronics setup Sierra Electronics

I mounted it in the left bag, and also picked up the Sena stereo SM10 to have stereo through the Bluetooth headset. Use phone, tunes and nav all via the Boom system through my Sena Bluetooth headsets.

Service manager told me the plug attaches to the top of the tank right where it goes under the seat. Double stick tape. How's that for a professional accessory on a $24,000 motorcycle.

I have a SENA SMH10 headset. I've finally got what I feel is the best overall system for me. I have the SENA paired with the smartphone in my pocket. That allows me to make and receive phone calls, listen to music via streaming such as Pandora or Spotify, or music I have stored on the phone, or the radio apps on the phone, and to listen to Google Maps turn by turn navigation instructions. I don't need the BOOM for any of this.

I use the BOOM screen to show the pictures of the years-out-of-date maps that Harley provides. I could spend another hundo to mount the phone to the bars so I can see the current maps, but that's another complication I can live without.

At least the Google turn by turn instructions are up to date.

My set up with the Sierra product ( http://www.sierra-mc.com/proddetail.asp?prod=SIE-SNA-HD14-SMH10) gives the same wireless control - full voice commands, handlebar controls, etc., except it pairs through the Sena SMH-10 headset, so my passenger can also get the tunes through the her headset, and we can communicate on intercom. Using phone just requires hitting the headset jog dial to sowing from stereo to duplex. I have the SMH-10 stored in my left bag and connected to the wired headset port plug in the fairing. The SM-10 stereo streaming device is connected to the SMH-10 in the bag as well.
