Got me a new to me 2011 RG Ultra with the Boom system. The front left speaker is blown. Looking to replace them. Haven't had the fairing off yet was planning on getting new speakers before I take it off. Whats my options? I just don't know if there is anything special about the boom system. Thanks!!!

Be prepared for tons of opinions. Most will say, including myself, that Boom is highly overrated and highly over priced. What you pay for Boom, you can be lightyears louder and clearer in the aftermarket realm. What it comes down to is what you want from your system and how much your budget will allow.

You need to find out what amp you have and what ohm it operates at. If it's a 2ohm , Infinity Kappa 6.5 " 62.11i is one of the best entry level speakers. If your budget allows , look at Hertz.

You will need 6.5 adapters for the speakers, as the ones you have now are 5.25. You won't need grills though, as the stock grills in the fairing will stay in place.

I personally think "waterproof" is a kind of false characteristic when talking speakers. There is no speaker that is truly waterproof, some are water resistant. Some have great warranties.

I've used Hertz, Alpine, and Focal in stock positions, lower fairing, and saddlebags on my Ultra. I've never had any problems being caught in the rain.

Marine grade speakers simply don't sound as good to me.
