Biketronics Failed

I strongly recommended Biketronics to a brother touting how great they were and how they had a lifetime warranty. He got the amp and Titan II speakers for his 16' RG. A couple months later one of the speakers sounds like it's blown. He was told over the phone that the warranty only covers workmanship and if that had been the issue he would have noticed on day 1 that there was an issue and that 95% of problems are caused by abuse.

He said that he talked to Mike and was told to send it in. They will look at it to determine if it was caused by abuse or not. We'll see what happens. I do know it was installed properly and not abused. I listen to my cheapo Alpines at a louder level than he does his. Bad thing is he has a road trip planned this weekend.

I installed a pair of their 5X7 lid speakers and in the installation kit they have a flyer which shows a picture of a burnt voice coil which is caused by over powering the speakers. I read that to mean that with the caution notification that should I have a blown speaker I would find myself out of luck on the warranty.Keeping in mind the speakers are rated @ above the rated Amp output so in theory it should not be a problem. But I am not naive enough to believe that the ratings are always accurate.
So though the advertise a lifetime warranty and I believe they would extend that to an amp I have my doubts if they would warranty a blown speaker coil and call it abuse.

I have a Biketronics setup in my RGS, amp, speakers and line leveler, I had a speaker crackle at high volumes, I called them and they had me send it in and they said there was nothing wrong with it, I did the swap where they send me a new speaker first (I pay for it of course) and then return mine in the box, after they looked at mine and determined there was nothing wrong, they reimbursed me my money, but I will say the new speaker did not crackle, I have also had 2 line levelers go bad this summer, they did replace them both easily, so, even though I had some issues, now that everything is working, the system is amazing, very happy with it, I also strongly recommend doing a full reset of the bike radio unit, as this completely changed the sound for the better, and its probably good to do a reset everytime you do an update

There is fine print to every warranty, and over the years i grown to accept this. My whole life i have been in the racing scene and constantly watched people loose a 30k $ engine in one pass including myself. We didn't have the coin for the first one while having had no warranty. Instead we just did it for the love, and that's how i look at everything now. I just assume when i buy something i am on my own so i will never buy for a warranty.

I had a 7.1 speaker replaced (no sound) and a kenwood HU I purchased through them. For each It was a simple phone call, about 15 minutes of troubleshooting on the phone and new ones were on the way. Wouldn't hesitate to call them again if I had a problem, great folks to deal with.

Anytime you add an aftermarket amp to a stock head unit, AVC should always be turned OFF...
