That is what I don't get the RGU is often left off the list but they still apply. Seems those that make the list don't know the models.
Installing 1.21.0.4 on my 2017 RGU now . Will let you know how it goes.

I don't think the update is motorcycle model specific. It comes in 3 flavors; choose by what radio your sled has: Standard 4.3; Premium 6.5GT or Premium 6.5GT CVO.

I updated to 1.21.0.4 and also updated the dealer database to 2016 Q4. The dealer database update seems to require a usb stick formatted on a Windows computer. WTF Harley? Tried several times with a stick formatted FAT32 on a Mac. No dice. Formatted FAT32 on a PC - bingo!
The software update, however, works from a Mac-formatted stick.

I am always leery of these upgrades when my shit just works perfectly with none of the above stated issues.....or any for that matter

No, show me an update that says "Made it way fucking louder" and I'll download that shit a NY Min
Hah . Ya no shit huh? Im.still behind a few updates. And I'm ok with that. I will.update the dealer thingy though.

Loss nothing by installing updates if for some reason you have issue only takes a few minutes to revert to the one you had. Had on issue with the last one. Lot of these fixes are related to users that use different function some of us don't. Tried a few of the function with the new one installed everything seems to work.

I can certainly understand folks not wanting to do updates, especially if they aren't having any problems.
Having worked in software support has caused me to always upgrade, but to keep a clear path to return to the previous version, if necessary.
So, I'm at 1.21.0.4 now, along with dealer update version 2016 Q4 and maps version MY2017-NA.

We'll see if the latest software fixes the problem of the radio not knowing if it's day or night. I have the high-contrast theme running, as it allows me to see the screen better in sunlight. However, at night, it will occasionally flip between daytime & nighttime modes. Not expecting a fix this time either.

I wish they would address how long it takes for the Nav system to come up to ready. Every other GPS I have, or have access to, is ready in seconds. This one takes a ridiculously long time to get ready. Perhaps they aren't storing the satellite info when the unit is powered down? Chances are the unit will be in the same spot when it comes back on. Not holding my breath that this will get fixed either.

This radio is a combination of Harman-Becker and NNG Global Infotainment Technologies.

More like your TV they still draw power when off so they start faster. Many TV's have the option to turn that off. If you do see how long it takes it to come on. In our modern world off does not mean off in terms we once though of. Myself I want it shut down fully it does not take long to boot up

Am I the only one who can't get the update to install? I verified it is the 4.3 file (as it should be) I unzipped the file to to the root directory, and the bike says "incompatible or corrupt"?
To verify, you did this?

Downloaded the file (swdl_boombox_4.3_DOM.1.21.0.4.zip) to your computer.
Expanded the zip file on your computer.
Formatted a USB stick (FAT32).
Copied only the ISO file (swdl_boombox_4.3_DOM.iso) to the USB stick. It should be the only file on the stick.
Put your Glide into ACC mode.
Wait until the radio system is fully up. That is, the Nav system is ready.
Insert USB stick into bike.
Follow onscreen prompts to upgrade system.

If that doesn't work, I might try repeating the process with a fresh download & a different stick.

Good luck

I am about as computer illiterate as is humanly possible. I downloaded the update to a formatted flash drive. On the website it said the file was 881mb. The total download on the drive is 2mb compressed. Is this a problem or when I try to install, will it decompress and load correctly?

Download the file that's appropriate for your radio: Standard, Premium Radio or Premium CVO Radio.
Once downloaded, you'll have a file on your computer named 'swdl_boombox_6.5GT.1.21.0.4.zip' (assuming yours is the Premium radio).
Next, you need to expand the zip file on your computer. Just double-click it & you'll see a new folder. The file you need is contained inside the new, expanded folder.
Insert a USB stick into your computer. Go to Start, Computer & locate the USB drive.
Format the USB stick. Right-click on its icon & select Format. Choose FAT or FAT32 file system.
Copy only the ISO file (swdl_boombox_6.5GT.iso) to the USB stick. It should be the only file on the stick.
Put your Glide into ACC mode.
Wait until the radio system is fully up. That is, wait until the Nav system is ready.
Insert USB stick into bike.
Follow onscreen prompts to upgrade system.

Dealer location/names change from time to time. The file updates that, it is not a Map update for the GPS. Worth doing never know when you may want that information

When I downloaded the Premium Boom Box Version: 1.21.0.4 software update it is 859,937 kb. The website shows that it is 881 MB.
The downloaded file is 'swdl_boombox_6.5GT.1.21.0.4.zip'
It extracts to a folder named swdl_boombox_6.5GT.1.21.0.4
Inside that folder are 3 files:
1. premium_version.txt, a 1kb text file
2.) swdl_boombox_6.5GT.iso, a roughly 860 MB disc image file
3.) swdl_boombox_6.5GT.iso.md5, a 1kb checksum file that ensures the download was complete

Make sure you have file extensions turned on so you can see which file is which. You may be trying to use the checksum file.
Folder and Search Options, View tab, uncheck 'Hide extensions for known file types'
Otherwise the checksum file will look like the ISO file because the md5 extension will be hidden.

The only file you need is the second one, swdl_boombox_6.5GT.iso

Just copy that one to the thumb drive.

Tried downloading it 3 times, acts like it works perfectly. Takes about 2 minutes. The ios file is 1kb should be close to 1 gb. Plug it into the bike, and all it says is, no music detected. Perhaps the IT guy has some firewall that won't let it download. Oh well trip to HD tomorrow. only doing the update as a recommendation from Mike at Biketronics to try to trouble shoot my audio issues.

I must be fn retarded, anything that shows up for me is way too small. Done dickin with it. Took a 1/2 day today, don't want to go back to work to check it further. I'll let harley do it. Thanks for the replys and the help, but some people are too stupid to be helped (me). I would be happy with a typewriter.

Just UPDATED, no problems, what I did and do every time is open up the thumb drive, click on each file contained on it and drag it to the garbage can (Mac) once its clean I down load the new update, mine took about 8 minutes. Then double clicked on the down loaded file and then it decompresses , then I click on it and drag it to the thumb drive icon and it loads on to it. Eject stick, head to the bike. you know the rest.

Mine did take the boombox but not the dealer update. The dealer list is worldwide so it should take it no matter what.
While trying the dealer update I got a frozen map page and no audio, everything went fine following a complete bike shutdown and alarm resetting.
Screw the dealer update......:serious:

I've seen two things cause someone to be stuck in the perpetual "authenticating" mode: 1) USB not formatted using FAT32 format; or 2) using iOS to complete the Dealer Update download. The Dealer Update requires a Microsoft OS workstation (as does the map update from Naviextras.com). Also have to make sure the Nav system is fully operational before inserting the USB stick. Good luck.

Fixes the random failures to start.

But it will not remember my playlist presets. Phone is connected via usb (tried bluetooth too). Every time I turn on the bike, the playlists are all wiped. At this point I just let it shuffle everything, and that's good enough. But I would like it more if... you know... it worked right.

Another software bug? Anyone using saved playlists and it works?

Yesterday after a short ride i tried to start my 17 Road Glide Ultra and got a black Srceen and nothing happened. Did a reboot would not start. Black srceen then in my odometer srceen it said to enter pin. Started getting nervous has i never put a pin # in my bike. Did another reboot and the dam thing started up with no problems since. I preformed the new update to my 6.5 system all went well, but i now experience some slow boot ups, lost screens and have some strange things going on with my system. Anyone else having problems After the last infotainment update. My BoomBox was working great never any problems or Gliches before the update. Kinda wish i waited a while longer before doing the upgrade.

Dose anyone know what this pin thing is don't want to be stranded somewhere with out a PIN number.

What wasn't starting, the radio or the bike? If it's the latter, I'd get it to the dealer before you do get stranded. If it's the radio you can always roll back to the previous version... if you kept the software.
I haven't seen the symptoms you describe, although I've had a couple times where the music just stopped for a few seconds, then resumed. If it becomes bothersome I'll do something.
