If you end up in Jackson,Wy after going through Yellowstone book a room at the Alpine Motel. It is an old style motor inn a couple blocks from downtown. And reasonable , at least for Jackson.
Park right in front of your room .

Motels for this trip are averaging about $100/night. The best deal is gonna be in Canmore because of the exchange rate.
P.S. we're not afraid of most $59-69-79 rooms, and most times I move on after they get to $100.
I just don't see spending big money for a room I'm going use for probably less than 12 hours.
Ratings mean next to nothing. Saw one the other day rated 2 stars. Primary complaint??
"The decor needs updating...."
Take your time getting there, I would ride to Billings or Belgrade the first day depending if want to run Interstate or two lane, then go over the Beartooth Pass and Chief Joseph Hwy to Cody the next day.
I think the best time to go over is in the late morning, clearest skies at that time. The cloud tends to build up in the afternoon and it can be very cold and wet up there, even flurries in August.
Be sure to stay at least one night in Cody, Wyoming. There is a nightly rodeo just west of town, the Buffalo Bill Museum, take the time to go thru this for sure. Lots of places to stay, but book soon because it is a major stop for folks travelling east to Sturgis from points west. In 2014 we stayed at the Grizzly Bear Motel/Lodge. It was an experience, there was a club from Southern Ca. that took up the west 1/2 of the motel. Interesting folks to say the least.
From Cody head east over to Sheridan, the road climbing thru the Bighorn Mountains is pretty cool as well. Watch out for speed traps around Sheridan, especially before, during and right after Sturgis.
Currently I'm planning on hitting Beartooth on the way up and Going-to-the-Sun on the way back. That'll likely change a few dozen times as we get closer to go time.
Booked all my rooms yesterday. Better hurry... Doing Yellowstone, Cody, and Kalispell on the way up, to arrive at the resort Tuesday evening; leaving there Saturday morning. Then straight to Sturgis before the crowd haha.
I did Beartooth and Chief Joesph a couple years ago and it was fantastic. This year on the way home we're doing going to the sun and don't know from there. Maybe head thru Nebraska. Never been thru there.
...... take US 20 east out of Lusk, Wyo & get a feel for the wide open, great American Prairie ....
..... Oglala Natl Grassland & Nebr Natl Forest are nearby
HEADS up to all riding going to the Sun in Glacier:: The motel 6 in Kalispell is full of meth heads. Keep your powder dry if ya stay there.
PS the road was in great shape in 2015. The east side was fresh pavement last year. Make sure Hy 89 south of Browning has been paved. 5 miles was rough dirt and slop . It started just north of Choteau,Montana

Big Fork Montana is right before you go to Hungry Horse on the way to the west entrance of Glacier. Clean town by the lake and good restaurants close. In Hungry Horse at the Best Dam Bar has the best Bloody Mary I've ever had. Everything is homemade.
I think I am going to run all the way to Red Lodge on Friday. Get up Saturday and have a nice breakfast before riding Beartooth. Then hit Yellowstone on my way southwest back to Reno.
