As I am reading forum posts I notice avatar pictures and signature pictures. Is there some way to enlarge them for viewing. some of them appear interesting? am I missing something?

As far as I know, there is no way to enlarge them unfortunatley. I'm in the same boat though, seen some pics I'd like to click on to see a full size to see what exaclty its a picture of
