The Kicker shallow mount subs are waterproof (they do not advertise that they are though) . I also have 4 of the kicker 6.5" subs in the lids I just removed... which are sold for bikes and Kicker advertises those as being waterproof and UV proof. And they are made the same as the 12" subs (just plastic and rubber)

IMHO it is a waste of good storage space, but I'm glad your happy with it.

+1......I was thinking the same thing!! Reminds me of the Howard Stern movie where he called the woman and had her lay her stereo speaker down and sit on it......
