Pinstriping OVER or UNDER clearcoat
I was looking at get pinstrips add to the before to make it my own and was wondering if i should go under the clear or over the clear. I would like to have a old school look to it too.

If you want it forever under if you might want to change later over

+1 of what Jeff said.
And it depends on how "old school" you really want it to look. In the real golden days of hot-rodding & early Harleys, clear coat was not used...just maybe a candy coat if you were really flush with bucks!

Aint gonna really matter. Once that pinstripe paint is on there, its on there. I would do under clear if I had a choice.

It is easy to remove just use oven cleaner. That is what a noted pin striper told me

I do some pinstriping on the side, and I would reccomend over the clear coat. That way down the road you can always change it up, or if you sell it the new owner could easily remove it.
Not to mention the ease of doing it on top,.. doing it under can sometimes be a pain depending on paint brands (i.e. it might come back to haunt you)

Under
A modern way to paint is everything under the clear coat and non of the paint features can be felt through the clear coat.

I have pinstriping over my clear coat. An 06, its held up well. The only time I noticed anything wrong I was using the scratch and swirl remover from Harley near the pinstriping with a white microfiber. I noticed there was some black paint from my pinstripe on the white rag. The stripe still looked fine, but I imagine it wouldn't be hard to remove later down the road.

Are you planning to paint the pinstripes or use vinyl decals? If you're going to paint them on, I'd say go all the way and put them under the clearcoat. If you're using vinyl, they're thick enough to put them on top. Not sure you can achieve a good look with vinyl under (I'm good with someone proving me wrong).
