I too remember the days of camping out elbow to elbow along Rte 106. It became a whole different event when they stopped the camping and made everyone chose hotels, motels, and cabins. It decentralized everyone - which I think was their goal. The roadside camping years were good times but maybe a little too wild at times.
I grew up in the area and now live in Loudon. It was because of those drives up Rte 106 as a kid to see the (wild) sights, that I now own a Harley. Sorry I didn't see this post earlier, I would've been there.
