Job add in newspaper
Local newspaper has job add listed under general help:
Job Fair Open House
Where: MANPOWER- Lancaster, Pa.
We need- Part time temp positions in York, Pa.
Positions available- Motorcycle assemblers
Flame me if you want, but I would prefer skilled people to assemble my $23,000 motorcycle!

Hmmmm? I wonder what kind of (part time)skilled labour would qualify as a motorcycle assembler?

I am sure they would prolly have part time temp labor doing non technical jobs like sanding burrs off of fenders.

Well seeing as how the ad doesn't say "skilled" that there is enough work to keep unskilled laborers doing something at the factory because I'm pretty sure that HD uses United Auto Workers in the plants but there is always work that can be done that isn't covered under their contract and can be given to anyone else that needs a job. I'm ok with it, HD is hiring, a good sign and I wish more companies were. We've all got to start somewhere.

This is exactly right. They do fall under UAW and there is no way in hell they would let temp labor do union jobs.
And there are plenty of people out there needing jobs that they would take grunt work at the factory hoping they can make a good enough impression to get an opportunity for a full time permanent job.
We use seasonal temps and some will make an impression and get hired on permanently if there are positions available.

In it's entire history Harley has never been UAW union, they were United Steel Workers and Machinist Aerospace unions. Whether you choose to believe it or not, part time temps work on the assembly line in the plants.
