Header Pipes, Heat Shields and Slip Ons...Oh My

Question about replacing the head pipes. Do they come with heat shields, or will the stock ones fit on them? I would tend to think that the after market headers would be slightly different in shape and thus rendering the heat shields useless.

Depends on what headpipe you get. Fuel Moto and Fullsacs use the stock heat shields I think. Dragos and others come with heat shields.

Most aftermarket pipes will come with heat shields. V&H for instance come with heat shields, so do Cobra. They are very easy to install. The pipe bends may or may not match OEM so they usually supply their own heat shields.

I currently run V&H product on my bike but after meeting Frank and his staff from Dragos at SWII will be changing my exhaust to one of his in the future.

Jackpot (Fuel Moto) 2-1-2 Headers do not come with their own heat shields, but your stock heat shields will fit.

Ok, so is one brand better than the other? Also a 09-13 the same?
