No sound at all
Just last week, my HK stereo stopped working. The readout works, but there is no sound at all. Last year I installed a J & M 250 watt amp with the 7 1/4" speakers. This is the first problem that I have had.
Any advice as to what the problem might be would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

First thing I would check is is it the amp or the head unit. Hook up the speaker wires from radio back to speakers if you have sound then it's the amp. If not then its head unit and pos the amp

Also check the fuse for your amp.

Fuse for the amp should be under your seat.

I think it's an amp thing too.

Discovered the problem! A loose fuse for the amp. I guess all of that vibration over the course of time loosened it. I simply squeezed it back into place and all is working just fine. Thanks to everyone for the tips!

I have the same problem but mine seem to be intermittent. Some times I start the bike and the radio works others I get no sound at all.
Where was it that you found the fuse issue? inside the fairing or under the seat? quite annoying when the problem is intermittent.

When I had this problem, it turned out to be the amp. John replaced my amp. He said when the bike starts, the power goes down for the amp, and that shuts off the amp. The amp doesn't work unless you can shut off the amp and repower up the amp. John sent me a new amp over 1 year ago that had this problem fixed. I've never had an issue since.

You know it's funny that you mention the power going out upon start up. I noticed that today when I turned it to ignition the radio came on.....while I was waiting for the fuel pump light to go out.......I then started the bike and the radio doesn't work.
Is it normal for your radio to look like it is rebooting when you go from acc to starting the bike? I never noticed that before.
