Xardoz, what made you go with the 50/55's rather than the ultra slim HID kit?

Going to pull the trigger on a set of the HID. Does this look correct?

Hi DMize
That setup looks real nice and with lifetime warranty are great. It is not a big investment so they can be change if you do not like them. Lets us know how they look and maybe a picture before and after. Better than $700 and no replacement possibilities

I had HID's installed soon after we purchased the RGC. The light is fantastic. Without projectors built for them, the lights kind of lit up the world, rather than being focused out on the road ahead. Different than what I was used to, not distracting - and great light.

I bought the LED's when they came out and have been happy with them. They are very bright, but seem more focused down the road. There is a flat cutoff that takes some getting used to. I notice it mostly when leaning into a corner at speed.

I don't regret the decision to go LED - but the HID's were a cost effective solution that worked perfectly.

Thanks tkbalt, an excellent description of what you noticed as being different.

Hello Dirtbag,

I live just outside of Sacramento. I think it would be beneficial to we could do a comparison of your HID's with my LED's. I also have a RGC with full LED's both driving lights and headlights.

Let me know if your game.

I do not have projectors. I have said many times the issue with HIDs is the Road Glide headlamps are not designed for proper reflection or shaping of the HID light pattern. This is where a quality HID conversion complete with projectors will help. The Retrofit Source offers quality kits. I am not looking to drop $500 on LED headlights at this time. Maybe when the time is right I will put a 10" Rigid Industries under my fairing and two Dually D2s on my lowers, but even then I will still do a HID projector conversion from The Retrofit Source first.

After reading all these posts, I have to say it sounds a little like the loud pipes argument.
I also looked at the web sites and wondered if those kits offered are plug and play kits like the group buy that was offered here recently ?
I didn't realize so many companies were offering HID lighting.
As for the kit offered on the group buy ( http://www.socalmotogear.com ) I am happy with the product and ease of installation.

As said. i also don't recommend riding illegal (what the fuck). But have installed and aligned my PIA anti Vibration Extreme white bulbs so that I can still see into oncoming traffic, and only get flashed by drunks and smokers who (probably drunkards) refuse to clean their windshields. I don't however, completely disavow any drunkards who can make it safely home without killing any others. I still get flashed now and then, but don't care as my right to see into incoming traffic is still iequal to that of the mototrist.
