Pay by the Mile-- California Sucks!
This program begins today. If you live in So. Cal and want to avoid traffic you can pay between $0.25-$1.40 PER MILE to avoid it. If you're caught in the Fastrack lane without paying the toll you will be fined in excess of $300.00. Just another way to take money from the taxpayers who originally paid for the highway they're now taxing.... opps, it's a fee, not a tax... I call B.S!

Do motorcycles also have to pay? I thought m/c can use car pool and HOV lanes, just not positive. I couldn't find any info on the links.

I'm not clear about motorcycles or HOV's. I think we need to get the transponder and put $40 in an account but I'm not positive.

Yea it works real well. The only people that use it are people that can write off the expence to a business. I only ever see 1 or 2 people using it and traffic is not that bad. I am sure that rush hour more people use it. I figure I paid to build the road and shouldnt have to pay to ride/drive on it.

They do this to raise money, but idiot Gov Moonbeam vetoed the raising of the fine for using cell phones, saying the existing fine is enough of a deterrent. Ummm, no it isn't. On virtually every ride that those of us in Kalifornia take we are exposed to an excess of people who routinely ignore the law against using phones.
