Can I quiet down my D&D Fatcat
I have the D&D FatCat 2-1 with Performance baffle, SE SuperPro Tuner & S&S 510 cams with dyno tune.
Has anyone tried stuffing some fiberglass in their muffler to quiet the D&D Fatcat? If yes, how did you keep it in there? Will it adversely affect my dyno tune?
Bike runs well but the pipes are too loud when touring.

jimmyray,
Here is an article on how to wrap your baffles using fiberglass cloth. I am not sure how difficult it is to pull the baffles from your D&D exhaust but it may be worth a try.

Another option to consider would be to add another baffle from these folks.

i have not tried removing baffle but I have heard it is a PIA if pipes have been on for a couple of years.

D&D makes a quite baffle and the sound is awesome, great for highway cruising. Give them a call.

D&D told me the quiet baffle can not be used with a modified 96". and they told me it is only 3 db quieter which does not seem like it would be worth the hassle. I am going to look into TripleJ's solution above.

I love that damn exhaust I had it on my stroked out road king but everyone's preference is their own , if u wanna pull out the baffle borrow a slide hammer from a body shop or where ever and pop it out I would just not be comfortable changing anything with baffle because of worry I might change performance in some way but once again I love that pipe and the sound it produces remember if it ain't broke don't fix it hehehe

currently my solution is ear plugs and the D&D sounds great with the ear plugs.

It's a logarithmic scale, so 3db is half as loud. Just saying.

I don't think this is correct. I believe -10db is roughly 1/2 as loud.
Typically it's stated as 10 db = 2x louder, 20 db = 4x louder.
3db isn't much...
