My First RG... In KC
KD here (in KCMO). Been riding 20+ years and finally bought our first harley last year. We bought a 2011 Street Glide and it didn't take long for SWMBO to decide that wasn't going to "cut it" for her. A couple months ago, we traded the SG for a new '12 RG (blue).
The steering is definitely lighter but I am not as happy with my ergonomics. I feel like I have to reach for the handlebars but yet my feet & rear are too forward. I know these are things that can be changed but now I have to pay taxes sooooo... maybe santa will be kind to me this year.
To make matters worse, within the first 1,000 miles, I noticed the steering wobbling at certain speeds. I commented on it at the 1k service and was later told that they had to tighten the steering nut.
Since then, now it seems to have a "knock" in the forks. When hitting bumps on the road or hard nose dive when braking with front. This "knock" can be felt in the grips as well. I took it to the stealer on saturday morning. The service manager overheard me checking the bike in. He took the bike for a ride while I was waiting to be picked up... after which, he reported to me that the front end seemed to dive too much and that they were going to put heavier fork oil in. I'm not a mechanic but I have worked on bikes long enough to know that isn't causing the "knock". He said they would "take it all apart and make sure nothing was wrong internally" but I have my doubts that they will actually fix anything.
Anyway, glad to be here and hope you guys can teach me how to tear this bike apart without breaking too many parts!!

Howdy and welcome from Austin. Don't let those issues prevent you from being in love with your RG. Everything you can imagine has been experienced and fixed by someone on this forum. Information is openly shared here- it may cost you some dinero to get her the way you want her, but just do a search on here for anything you have a question on. If you don't find it, post your problem. You'll get help.
