Oil Breather Kits
Anyone installing these on their bikes? Reading how the dirty hot oily air being directed to air filter sounds nasty.
haha

The oil breather is still sent into the "Intake" of the motor.
Look at the rubber ducts in your A/C next time you have it off.

I couldn't find an aftermarket one for our bikes, so I made my own. The nasty oil collects in a catch can setup now, I have to drain it around 2500 miles. The catch can is an air / water seperator for an air compressor line that I bought at Home Depot.

I'd love to see pictures of your setup

Ok, I'll try to post some pics later today. In the meantime, if you do a search on here for "crankcase breather setup" you should be able to find another thread on here with a couple of older pics of how I rigged it up.

Here are a few pics. The first pic was my first attempt on a silver SE backing plate. I just blocked off the small breather holes with black silicone. Then drilled and tapped a hole in each side of the backing plate for a 3/8 barbed fitting, where the breather bolts go. Then run some 3/8 fuel line to a T-connection then to an elbow and run that to the catch can. The oily crankcase air breathes through the catch can and out the other side. All the oily crap stays in the catch can and the rest of the air just breathes to the outside air. Tree huggers be damned.

I usually empty the catch can every oil change at 2500 miles.

Heres what its looks like. Keeps the bike clean and will help it run better overall. I've been running this for two seasons now with no issues. I like to run the proper amount of oil in the bike, instead of running it half full of oil to keep it from puking out on the motor.

Nice, I think a trip to Home Depot may be in order.
