I occasionally wear them, but noise doesn't seem to be very significant with my 3/4 and RG.... Not to be a skeptic, but you need to cite the "many studies" that establish your assertion relative to our sport; did they involve motorcyclists wearing full face helmets? Half helmets? None at all? What decibel levels and for how long/how often. I get that loud, constant noise can adversely affect hearing, but you have indicated that not wearing ear plugs while riding is inherently bad for hearing. Just 'cause you say it's so, don't make it so.

Have used many styles over the years depending on helmet and weather and length of ride. Also with fairing or not.
Just started using these and they are great and cheap and I split them in half because I’m a cheap sob

I started wearing them back when I had my Road King. I wish I'd started wearing them sooner. The windbuffeting on the RK will beat your ear drums badly. I have some hearing loss and Tinitus from that bike.
The RGU has a lot less windbuffeting than my Road King did, so it's not quite as serious of a problem on this bike. Still, I try to wear them when I'll be riding on the freeway. No need to make the problem worse.

On longer rides that include the super-slab, I'll pop some ear plugs in. Otherwise, I don't. My hearing was all but destroyed years ago, so perhaps the wind noise y'all hear is in the range that I can no longer discern. My mis-spent youth did a number on all sorts of parts and pieces of my body.

I posted never. If I'm on a longer ride I put on my 3/4 instead of my half and that takes care of that.
But the half is stashed somewhere for once I get there!

Half helmet yes, full helmet no. I have fitted ear plugs for the real windy days and the cheap foam ones for other times.

My hearing is already too far gone. If you still are able to hear well then use plugs. If like me, not sure what I woul gain. However, if you have hearing problems, hone up to them and get some "hearing instruments" aka hearing aids. I got one for each ear. digital. great. Mine are not Costco but my next pair will be. Go digital. Love them.
