Can someone tell me.......?
Ok, so let me make this clear before I get to my question, and I'm not trying to be a smart ass. I liked my old CVO RGC, it was a bad ass bike, and the journey with it was a good one, and this is not meant to trash the bike or anything like that, it's one hell of a machine.
But......why am I having more fun riding the '13 RG Ultra than I was riding the CVO? And the RGU is still stock aside form the wheels the dealer had put on.....
The only thing I am missing from the CVO is the iPod interface, other than that, just having a ball on the new sled.......

Sometimes all that high dollar fanciness almost makes us a bit over protective and cautious.
Also, even though I have a custom myself, even though not a CVO, maybe you just find the more practical and comfortable nature of the new ride to the "better looking" CVO.
More comortable seat, 17" front tire vs 19" might make it a better ride, taller shield, all that and more.
I had an FLHTCU for about 4 years, and now enjoy the more stripped down custom with the quick detach stuff, but that is just me.
Maybe that is really it, just the newness, nothing more complicated than that?

I will tell you the Ultra rides like a caddy compared to the RGC CVO, which is surprising to me since even though the CVO had 12" shocks they were the hand adjustable "premium" shocks, maybe the more comfortable seat plays into thi as well, who knows, one thing we all do know is the factory 13" air shocks are nothing out of this world either.
I think you might be on to something with the comfort thing, the last couple of years, especially all of this year, my riding has changed, and I find myself taking longer and longer trips, and when I'm on the bike and my azz hurts, it don't matter how pretty the paint is, lol.
Had a few folks tell me I'm insane for doing the trade, but I came out better off financially, and I'm 100% more comfortable thus far. Like I said the iPod interface is all I miss and that will be remedied at some point.
Maybe what someone else mentioned about not being so paranoid has something to do with it as well, but I have more fun throwing the Ultra around than I did the old bike, and it feels easier to throw around too, maybe because it sits higher up....?
I'm not trying to convince myself I made the right move, as my butt tells me I did, and I do like the looks of the red with the chrome agitators and front end. Just seems kinda screwy how much more fun this bike has been thus far. I should be off Mr. Mom duty in the next day or so and next week should let me get out more to ride
Gonna see where I disappear to Sunday because traffic gets crazy around here on race day......

Congrats on the "upgrade" (improved comfort) Gabe!
Just wait...
After you make a few "adjustments," you'll be even MORE thrilled.
As long as YOUR satisfied... tiz all that matters.

You like what you like you enjoy what you enjoy.
IF we all enjoyed the same ride it would be boring and hard to find your own in a parking lot.
Truth I enjoy riding any bike but prefer my RGU
