I've actually done it twice during the first month after buying the RGC. My wife was with me on her bike on both occasions. The first time it was only a few miles away and it had been given to an attendant. I told my wife "I won't do that again". The next time I was 60 miles from where I'd left it at a Costco near my house. Imagine the look on my wifes face when I told her I'd done it again. It was a wknd and I wasn't going to make it back to Costco before they closed. I ended up buying a second cap from a nearby HD. The next morning I went to Costco and was given back my original cap. The original now sits in the saddle bag. Instead of setting it down on the gas pump I now put it on the right floor board. That's been working since the first few weeks of ownership. I think the key ring and hanging it off the brake is a great idea.

I wish I could have seen the look on my face when I opened the fuel tank door and found a hole where the gas cap was supposed to be. I can laugh about it now. The local dealership had none (?) so I went to Cdn Tire and picked up a cap for an 01 Tacoma (~$11). Saved again.

With the 14s having no lock, it should be easy to find a new one... JUST KIDDING! That would be wrong!

Such an easy fix. I posts pictures in a similar thread.. Drill a hole in one of the cap "ears" and run a key ring thru it. Hang it on brake or clutch lever when you get gas. When you drive away, that annoying thing is your gas cap. Stop and put it on.

I got in the habit along time ago of getting off the bike when refueling for a quick stretch, and to never drip fuel on my seat. I always leave mine on my floorboard, never happened since. I do kinda like the keyring/clutch trick though.

Gonna do the key ring mod but I'm going to use a zip tie and leave a loop. Less chance of scratching anything.

When I bought my bike, it did not have one. Unlock the door and put gas in it, just like my old bike. Then I find this thread and call my buddy who I bought it from and ask did my bike ever have a gas cap? so he tells me - Yea it did, I think I left it somewhere a few months before you bought it and I never got around to replacing it....

Guess I need a gas cap!!

I have gotten in the habit of using the gas cap when Im finished fueling to cup over the nozzle of the pump as I move it over the bike to put it up. Keeps from getting gas on the paint or the hot parts. Also keeps it in my hand as I finish so I dont forget it!

+1 on leaving it on the seat. Haven't lost one yet.
