Head Upgrade ???
I already have the SE 103 build in my bike with the flat top pistons and the SE255 cams. At this time the bike has the stock heads and I am thinking about upgrading the heads, so should I just have my heads reworked or should I buy the heads already done? I am looking into the HD SE Pro CNC ported factory cylinder heads with valve upgrade or the SE Pro Kompressor cylinder heads. Also would the 255 be a good cam to keep or should I go with a different cam? I do like the low end torque that the bike has with the SE255's

I've done 2 of my HD's so far. I sent in my stock head to Branch and the second one to Branch/Okeffe to be reworked. On my RK I had them do what is called a Touring head mod. I picked up 9 extra HP plus additional torque. I just have baby cams in it (490 lift) but all kinds of low end TQ. I would think your 255's would be just fine. You can also change your head gasket to a .030 Cometic for some additional bump with those cams.

The stock heads and compression are well suited to the 103 with the SE255 cams and the cost to do the head work would really beg for more cam to realize any real results and that would be in the form of added HP and torque at higher rpms. If done properly the low end manors will remain robust.

A local guy here did a combo at dealer.
103 ultra
SE compression heads
259E
V&H dual cross over with montser round mufflers
Dealer tuned it in at 108 hp 108 tq.
SEPRO tuner.
He was not happy and the bike will be here in 2 weeks for us to give it more power..
I will take of the heads rework them
And we are going to add a tman 600sm cam.
Port match throttle body. clean her up.
And retune it.

I am not going with the Kompressor heads. I decided on a different set of heads that have bigger intake (just over 2 inch) and bigger exhaust valves, I don't have the exact dimensions on the valve sizes right now. The heads are CNC and are ported and I am having them polished as well and they will have ACR's installed too, right at this time I am sticking with the SE 255 cam that I have in the bike but I am having adjustable push rods installed so if I want to change cams latter on it will be easier. I am also having the high compression pistons installed, with this combination I may be able to go to a different cam down the road but this will be OK until the engine is broke in.

Assuming the new heads have the same combustion chamber volume. The early intake close of the 255 cam, will already have your cranking compression and corrected compression in the higher range. Adding even more compression via pistons is going to exaggerate that even more. Hopefully they give it a really good tune, so it doesn't ping. You'll definitely be needing the ACR's. if the new heads have more chamber volume, and the new pistons are there to make up the difference, then forget what I said!

Just to add to the choices...
I like Head-Quarters and have always had great knowledgeable service from them. Plus the performance is outstanding.
Check them out: http://head-quarters.com/.

fuelmotousa did mine on the 10 FLHTK ~ so far 40k later not a hiccup ~ my 103 dyno'd at 110/114 without a tune ~ utilizing the auto tune and accepting the trims.... These were the type B heads ~ I sent Jamie a set of 110 head for the CVO ~ can't wait to get them back and installed ~

+1 on everything said above. If heads have not had combustion chamber size increase, your building a PING monster with that cam.
