Tour Pak bushings
I'm changing bushings to eliminate rattling on the detachable tourpak....
Gilbos makes some aluminum ones and Automotive machine makes some stainless ones.....

I looked at these when the stock ones finally failed on my 03. After thinking about it for a while, I decided to go back to stock.
My reasoning was metal-to-metal is likely to rattle more than metal-to-plastic. Secondly, the HD parts are way cheaper. Finally, my first set lasted a long time before I had to replace them. I just considered them a wear part, and changed them. If only one fails, it's easy to get a replacement at any dealer...

I agree with FLTRI, I would not want metal to metal. Just replace the worn bushings and that should tighten things back up.

Do yourself a favor and chase down the original detachable rack for the old frame. NO more rattle. That shit, (understatement), design Harley went to makes me want to puke. Crap. Rattles from day one, metal bushings will only make it louder.
I know why they changed design, this one costs .25cents to make, the old one, $2.00... No comparison. I bought mine as NOS on ebay for $100. I GAVE away the new style POS.

I've gone through several sets of the stock nylon bushings and when they break down and come apart you end up with metal to metal anyway, only with a loose and sloppy fit. I could see where having metal ones of the correct diameter could be a good solution. I don't know if bushings for an '06 is "old" or "new" style, but that's what I had.

I tried a set of the Gilbos bushings and after about 2 years and 25k miles they were pretty loose. I was a little disappointed for the price. I turned them a quarter turn and now they should be good for another year or two, I hope.
