I have looked at the X Grip but doesn't that mount to a ball? I have a universal ram mount for the IPhone 4 with a case that squeezes down on the sides of the phone and at first i really liked it but the rubber started to get hard and the phone would vibrate around and come loose.

You can mount the X-Grip to our Standard or Tall boy with the center hole. Basically all you do is use the longer spacer and screw (that we supply) where the ball mount goes. It will stand the X-Grip off about 1/8" from our mount. This way it keeps it nice and close to our mount without having to use a ball setup.

Status update... RAM Mount is giving us a November 1st availability date for the new iPhone 5 cradles. If anything changes, we will let everyone know.

Great thank you...
This answers my question i had emailed earlier this morning....
Can you tell me if the mount would hold the Iphone with a protective case.?
Or would I need to use the X-Grip mount in that case ..?

You would still need to use the X-Grip... OR... you might want to check out Slip-Grip. They have some iPhone5 cradles that work with certain cases. Just make sure they utilize the horizontal mounting holes... otherwise you might have to drill them yourself.

I have the IPhone 5 in the Otter box commuter case and I went with the slip grip. I will try to get pics this weekend. If you keep your phone in a case this is a good option, it holds the phone very firm, no worries of it falling out for me. They have alot of different styles also.
