I test road a Road Glide Ultra today and was wondering if I were to buy one would putting the low profile shocks on the ultra effect the handling or is that the only differance between the ultra and custom. By the way really liked it compared to my 2000 ultra classic. Dealers got to do better than just discounting frieght and dealer prep on 2012 demo even though it only has 35 miles on it it is still a demo.
Not sure if it will affect the handling per se, but they will affect the ride.. I had a 2012 Road King, I put the profile low shocks on and didnt think much of it until I bought my Ultra. HUGE difference. The profile low shocks are *very* harsh by comparison to the stock 13" shocks.
I have to agree with HellInABucket, you have to remember your going from a 13" to a 12" shock, an inch may not seem like much, but you will feel it in the ride. Best thing is an after market shock, HD OEM shocks aren't the best.

If you're looking to get lowered for a better fit (vs appearance), I'd suggest getting your seat modified at Mean City Cycles, I did that on my Road King, very happy with it - they narrowed it (which made a huge difference when stopped) and lowered me by 1/2 inch.
