Headlight swap question

Anyone know if the stock headlights and assembly off a 12 custom will fit an 08? Having a bear of a time with my google search. Thanks all

Same exact fairing, so my answer is, yes.

Plus lots of us who ran earlier style swapped, or modified existing to work the same as the new style. New style is basically the same as moving the head light housings to the outer side of the light bracket.

This is assuming you're talking about the Assembly. But the piece parts work too. The adjusters may end up being a little long if you reuse the old with the new mount. But it just makes them easier to get to.

a little think here,

so if I am reading this correctly there is a mod that can change the older style headlight assembly so it will work with the mean mug?
I will have to use the search option here.

I cannot take credit for this.

I'm sure someone will find the link in the time it takes me to type this. But it's as easy as removing the headlight assembly, unscrewing the headlight housings, drill proper size carefully thru the existing holes thru to the front side. Mount the headlight housings on the front side of the bracket. Screw the adjusters in about 3/4" from where they are now and pop the sucker back in.

Alternatively you can buy the mount bracket and the shorter adjusters and move your housings over.

Of course the "easy" part about removing the headlight assembly involves removing the fairing... Which is a big deal until you get the hang of installing it again.. which by the way is MUCH easier to do without the headlight assembly removed.

I'll suggest you suck the lights in tight to the fairing to minimize the vibration and if you want to go with the CVO or late style bezel. Either case requires the lights to be protruding as little as possible. (headlight flicker caused by vibration is the biggest reason)

Chainsaw did it on mine that is an older style than his. He has a 2010 and mine is the 2009 so they are different, but was able to get it switched to get the mean mug to work with it. You will have to ask him how he did it.

I think putting the lights in from the front, drill & screw the lights in & screw in the adjusters all the way would give enough room for the mean mug??

ummm i'm not sure how he did it. if he had a drill, screwdriver or any weapons around my bike i wasn't aware of it and my brain sets off alarms when he brings those things around my bike.

he might have something on his website (www.gascapitalcustoms.com) of what he did, but your best bet is just to message him and he can tell you what he did. i am pretty sure he just switch the plastic thingy from behind the lights out with what was in my fairing...let me know if he did have any weapons around my bike

just checked the facebook page and he had a little bit of info. on the adapter for the older bikes using the newer style of lights
